Safe for LR DEfender

I want to have made a SAFE for the interior of my Landrover Td5 2005 County Station Wagon. Ideally, this would be (as a minimum) 13” long (ideally 15”) x 11” deep (ideally 12”) x a reasonable width, as I’d like to keep in it a not-very-small laptop and an essential file or two, as well as the obvious other items.

The obvious place for this would be the box between the front seats but that box is too small and anyway has in a number of wires and is useful for other items.

Any suggestions for siting within the vehicle, and a design for how it would best be made, please?

Isn't there a company that makes a center console replacement that's a locking box? Doubtful that it's fireproof/waterproof, but it does lock.

Tuffy does make a locking box/center console for the D90, the other option I would think is to bolt something to the frame rails and sit it right behind the front seats.

My IIa has a small box under the right front floor that was built between the gas tank rail and the outrigger frame rail. It's sort of a tool/storage box but if you had one built with thick aluminum or steel and insulated it might serve your purpose.

Is your intention to have a secret safe? Or, like Dave and syke said with regard to a lockable console, there a a few mfr's out there.

If you need a "double secret" safe I'd suggest (and have seen) sacrificing the storage space under the pass. seat and figuring out a way of weatherproofing it from underneath.

On my 110, there's a storage box behind the left-rear wheel (opposite the fuel filler). You could make it waterproof and replace the lid with something far more secure. Its well hidden which adds to its security.
