Sand Ladders

I'm sure this subject has been beaten to death but +$200 for two peice of metal is ridiculous. There are only 2 places on the web I could find them as landing mats. I'm sure with a few angle grinder blades and a sand blaster you can have some full fledged sand ladders. Anybody know how to get in touch with local military bases to buy these? I mean I can order them for $50 but then shipping will suck even if they are cut in two.

All surplus military gear goes through a DRMO (Defense Resource Management Office) office on each base. Anyway, that stuff ends up at auction at places like Government Liquidation (governmentliquidation.com). I doubt you would be able to buy just two, more than likely it will be a pallet.

Also, you may want to consider getting some in aluminum rather than steel - much lighter that way. The set I have look like the photos in the link you gave, but testing with a magnet showed they weren't steel, so I'm sure they're out there.

Unfortunately I acquired them so long ago I don't remember where I got them anymore. :(

heres a useless post.

i had a some sites for wholesale suppliers if the fiberglass waffle board, which i think is better than anything.... you get a 4x8 sheet and trim to your liking...

....and i cant find them. i looked, and i must have deleted some folders.

contact companies that deal in decks and stair risers for industrial applications. if there is a manufacturer near you.... maybe you can talk them out of job cast offs.

I ended up giving my steel PSP away years ago...just too heavy and cumbersome to deal with, both using and mounting. The Maxtrax and aluminium items are much better to use....although more expensive.

You can buy them from a guy in Smithfield, NC for $35 a piece. I can give you the info if you want. Or I will sell you a couple that I picked up for $30 a piece. They are the steel landing mats 6' long.

I will be heading down to Mississippi in December, so if you are still wanting some around then let me know and I'll drop them off on the way.

I might be able to help...

I don't live very far from Calumet, OK and I was thinking about getting a couple of these to mount on my rig. I can check them out and look into shipping for you.
