School me on the X

Actually, the C200 has yet to prove much of a problem. The M226 with the factory locker, on the other hand, has seen it's share of problems. This is do to Nissan maching down internal pieces (can't remember what it was at the moment) to fit the locker inside the housing. There is also the 2-spider gear vs 4-spider gear axles.

246 ft lbs, with all do respect, you say that Mike is grasping at straws with the axle vs TRE/CL debate. But you speak of throwing in a D60 and Sterling 10.25 under a Gen II. That's just overkill for the vast majority of us out there, not to mention extremely expensive. A M205 from a Titan bolts right in and so do the V8 Pathfinder half shafts, you do a full Titan swap and even the Titan CVs are bolt in. It'd be way cheaper, easier, and more suited to the majority of us to go that route.

Let's just agree to disagree. Each generation has their own ups and downs. Hell, we all should have expected Nissan to throw the downs in there. :)

Peck you're right, each vehicle does have its pro's and con's; there are a ton of things I wish were different on my first gen. I never intended to make it genI vs genII, I appologize to everyone if this was the outcome. I like a lot of the genII attributes and there are numerous aspects I wish I had. The thread started off as a "school me on the X". I guess I'm just like a proud parent and wanted to keep a voice alive for the first gen's.

If you stick you hand in the opening for the first glove box and push up you will find your second glove box.:wings:

I thought he was looking at a second gen, was he not?

I absolutely loved my 2k X. I put 100k problem free miles. It rides like a truck and doesn't have a lot of power but I didn't mind. My wife grew tired of it and we moved on to a 3 gen 4runner, which I hear is more like the 2gen X.
1st gen is bullet proof but very basic. My parents have my old X and they still love it expect for the ride. They are switching tires to smooth it out but the Bilstens I put on are a little stiff without some weight in the back.
