I thought the price was a little high as well but everything these days gives me sticker shock. In my mind it would have been more reasonable at around $24,950 base price so it could be optioned for around the $30k mark. The market will dictate though.

The price seems competitive with fwc. It's $16k less than the OEV 5.85 Back Country. I'm assuming the walls are similar construction to their hard side. I think I read somewhere go fast helped them with the tent section and roof. Just from what I've seen from Scout and having owned a FWC I would put money down pre-ordering a popup Scout before buying another FWC.

Small is expensive. If one wants cheaper, then one of the non slide in "topper" style truck campers would be a better deal, the Project M etc types. I hope they work out. Seems to be one of the areas in RV land that isn't retracting right now.

I've got no issue with the price considering the market(and quality). My issue is these companies keep designing 1000lb+ campers for MIDSIZE trucks. I own a Tacoma and that's already over max payload- barebones and empty! They should have just designed it for full-size trucks and keep the toppers for midsize. End rant.

If you use a 1/2 ton or less to haul stuff, then you deal with being over GVWR. That's just how things are done in the US. It's not illegal.

I know. Not a huge deal if you're just hauling a bunch of mulch or a rick of firewood home. These campers, however, are semi-permanent and make the truck drive like a DOG. I hope nobody gets into an accident while driving with too much weight. If I'm a claim adjuster first thing I'm doing is finding-out what the GVWR is of that truck!
