Sea Kayaking a freshwater sea, August, 2010

I was just out on Grand Island a little over a week ago.
Had a great time free diving one of the ship wrecks, it was one of the wood schooners.

Beautiful area.

Ah nice! Wish I would have known, would have loved to meet up. Which shipwreck was it? Tom and I were going to check out the one in Murray bay prior to him not being able to go.

You wouldn't believe how warm Superior is this summer! You've paddled Grand Island right? Anywhere off shore a bit in Lake Superior is usually pretty chilly at its warmest, this summer though, it is actually super comfortable. I stayed in as long as I wanted with no hypothermic issues! Kind of scary actually.

We have had days like that here on the North Shore. For a couple days we were up to 68*. Then is was straight back to 38*. Just a few degrees above solid, :snorkel:

Would have been great to meet up, but it was a super quick trip for a wedding. Went out to the Island as part of the wedding.

Might be back this autumn, will let you know if I am in the area.

Awesome, I am out of town quite a bit this fall but hoping to squeeze a fun little overland trip in the first week of October. Shoot me a line if you come over.

I cant believe those were taken with an iPhone - very impressed. Looks like a great trip, would love to head up to that area at some point & explore. Thanks for posting your experience!
