Looking for some sage advice from the forum.

Waiting on a new canvas for my truck camper from Phoenix Campers.

A 3 part you tube video project i watched used his glue (HH-88) to seal his sewing machine needle holes.

Anyone else use this?

I've used GEAR AID Seam Grip

(
on my old canvas but it really likes to run and gets kind of messy.

Any opinions or suggestions are appreciated.

Thx, Bob

I believe I did...... I'd have to go look for the can, but those numbers do ring a bell. On my first awning, I had sewn a keder strip onto el-cheapo silver tarp, backed with 1" nylon web. Rain always dribbled right above the doorway. Sealed it up very well, but from what I remember, it left a thin layer of goober on the seam. It was not invisible. Also, I recall it being pretty HOT in the smell department until it dried.

Since, I purchased an oversized awning replacement canvas (you can buy that finished cheaper than roll material), and sewn another keder on it to replace that old silver tarp. This one never leaked like the first attempt. I think the material itself seals up the needle holes better.

Another glue we used to use that worked very well for canvas was called "tear grease", which the company renamed to "tear mender". Stuff works well on canvas and could also be brushed on a seam. This product is more of a water base/dries to a rubber product.
