Sealing a truck cap

I just put my cap back on my DC Taco and can not stop it from leaking. IThe cap is a Ranch brand and is all fiberglass, even the bottom rail. I have now doubled the foam sold at Lowes for caps and used 6 clamps (on a 5 foot bed) and still have a leak. I do not want to silicone the top, since I take it on and off. I thought about trying the rubber seals used from garage doors, it looks a little like the seal for the fiberglass top on my FJ40. Does anybody have another secrete? Jay in NY

Check around for "Bulb seal". I know Leer caps use(d) this as an upgrade from foam, and it helped several of our customers with leaking problems (regarding their cap...)

Where is it leaking and what is it leaking? If water is coming in under the rails, I'd go with the bulb seal. But if you're just getting dust and dirt in the bed that will happen. It gets in from the drains/vents on the underside of the bed and around the tailgate. Cabelas (I think) sells a tailgate sealing kit if you are trying to keep dust out. IMO that's the #1 place for dust to get in the back of a truck with a shell.

Water

Yes it is water around the rail. So I can find the bulb seal at RV/camper/places that sell topper type stores? Thanks Jay

I had this problem on my DC shell. I took it off and made sure very thing was clean.....then put on a foam door seal they sell at Home Depot......Never had a problem since.....And i used to live in Seattle......I only have 2 clamps per side......

Might want to down grade in clamps.....the water could be getting through between the clamps......It might also be too tight as well.....make sure it is on snug and let the foam seal do the rest.....

Hope this helps......
