Sears 1942 to 46 Trailer (bantam)

As far as I can tell, this trailer is 1942 through 1946 Sears Trailer. Bantam made these for sears catalog sales. I bought it 4 years ago, replaced spring mounts on one side, repacked bearings, new studs and lug nuts, lights, and new 2" ball hitch with HD chains. It has a fold down tail gate, and removable stake sides. There are some implement tires on it, that do fine on the inteerstate, but will need to be replaced soon as they are getting some dry rot cracks.They hold air fine. Never had a flat. The front tongue, is bent a little, a sway type bend, as I'm sure this thing hs seen years of use. There is some rust, but nothing that can't be fixed. Could use a good military paint job. This is fairly light weight compared to any of the military tralers you will find including the 101. Would make great expedition trailer. I have kept it inside the garage the entire time I've owned it.Tows straight and true, and is a real icebreaker with the older folks. When you stop anywhere, there is always someone that will come over and want to know all about it. The Sears plate, and serial number are still on it. This thing is all original, except the things I changed on it, the paint job, and the tires.

Dimensions of the trailer are;

-fender to fender is 67"es
-inside tub is, front to back 73"es
-inside tub side to side 46"es
-tub sides are 11"es
-total side height with wood sides is 3Ft.
-ground clearance is about a foot to the axle

The trailer sits high naturally, and has plenty of ground clearance. Great to pull behind a JK, TJ, YJ, CJ, or any rig for your next expedition.

$300 obo.

This pic shows the sway in the tongue. I was going to remove it and hook up a three point hitch for the tongue, and add a tool box.

That's pretty cool. I like the vintage. Too far away right now. Gas would triple the price. Will keep checking though. $300, it won't last.

So that is what my trailer is. I have one just like it but not in near as good a shape. I paid about $200 if I recall. It has had the tongue beefed up with pipe at some point. The fenders are missing and parts of the top rails have been cut out. Despite all that, I love the thing. It pulls great full of gear behind my jeep even on rocky hills and over big ruts. It tracks very close to the rear axle line and seems to act lighter than it is. I've had it heavily loaded with gravel and piled with a groups worth of camping gear. It's been to Mexico and back. I might even offer you $300 for your if I could tell where it was. Someone is going to get a sweet trailer. Good luck and thanks for the info.

Thanks for the testimonial. They are great trailers, but I'm at a no time to do extra things in my life time. New job, kids in sports etc. :D I'm a long way from you in Calif., I'm outside of Nashville, TN.
