Secret Places

Hi friends,

sometimes in internet we saw photos from amazing places but in the description is not referred the place or even the country where the photo was taken.
Because of this, i created some months ago a facebook fan page and a blog where i put some of this photos but with all information we need to find the place.

In the Overland community we have amazing photographers, and especially we have people that know places... because of this i'm opening this thread to collect new "spots". So if you have photos from "secret places", or if you know some nice spots, please let me know and help me making this "database" bigger.

Please visit our blog and/or our facebook fan page and see the spots we already have posted. Take note that all spots are real, was confirmed by different photos and have GPS coordinates. Now you have one more place to find places to visit in your next trip :)

Below you can see an example of one of our "Secret Places".

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. Im not sure what criteria you need to meet to be a 'secret place' but we have just visited Ushguli in Georgia (former USSR). Its remote, rarely visited and closed off for at least 6 months of the year. At nearly 2500m altitude its the highest inhabited place in Europe. There are a number of memorials along the route where locals have perished in landslides, road collapsing or just being blind drunk.

I'm working on my village shots of Ushguli now and will post shortly.

I have a few others from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Bulgaria with more sure to come as we drive east to Siberia :ylsmoke:

Glad I could help. I had a look around and was quite surprised at how many of them I have visited! :)

How about the Grand Mosque at Djenne in Mali?

Maybe not secret if you know your way around West Africa but still an impressive UNESCO site and reputably the biggest mud structure in the world. Mali is under a military coup at the moment and access to the region is limited. We were there in early 2011.

Dogon Country, Mali?

One of the few places in West Africa to never be affected by religion. They are tribal people who live within the cliffs which rise out of the Sahel below. This is the only good picture I have (of me) there.

:sombrero: Usually in early May, this snow runoff feeds the same section of this lake and the Trout LOVE the feed-

This is a spot we visit in Michigan's UP. Thanks to a "local" letting us in on it so we can enjoy it! Its a few miles from the Pictured Rocks but accessible state land.
