Napier has a least 15 years (that I am aware) of history of making these type of tents for vehicles.
I had one for a pick-up that was very good.

I agree also the cutting the holes into the plywood will reduce weight.
I have also done the hinge on the top of the sleeping platform on 4 of my vehicles (Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7, Cherokee and now the Jeep JKU). This makes the access much easier. The drawers can be smaller, less weight also (no double walls) more usable storage space.
