Boss Hog,
Nice looking 60! I was sad you sold the 55, but you're still in the game. Any build plans for it?

I've only had her a few months, but I'm steadily working to remedy all the neglect and abused heaped on it by former owners. The body and chassis are rust free, the 318 V8 has good compression, and it's only got 160k miles, so I have hopes that I can get ahead of the neglect and make it a reliable vehicle. It's a fight because Jeeps respond even more poorly than most to lack of maintenance. So far I've lifted it and rebuilt everything that moves in the front suspension, put decent ATs on it, done water pump and radiator, and a host of other smaller things. Today it runs good, but I still have a lot to do.
I can't believe I missed this thread. We love our old iron. I tend to get attached to my vehicles due to what I ask them too do and they do it without complaint (unlike some people). So here's our coral that's all still running and prepped for adventure:
-1987 FJ60 "RhinoRide" owned 13 years
-1970 FJ55 "WorkingPig" owned 6 years
-1994 Suzuki Samurai "Sami" owned 17 years
-2003 Kawasaki KLR 650 "The KLR". Owned 15 years
-1997 GMC Sierra 2500 4x4 "Bubba" owned 18 years
-1976 Triumph TR6 "Red Headed Girlfriend" owned 22 years
-1995 Tiger 4wd Camper "Le Tigre" owned 4 years
Wow...95 years!
I had big plans, but now I think I’m gonna keep things simple. I added an old-school ARB bumper, heavy springs up front, a new clutch, and a very useful old Rhino Rack basket. In the future, MAYBE I’ll add a 5 speed (we’ll see), definitely some 16” Tacoma steelies & 33” wheels, & continue to fix leaks. That’s about it-less is more for me with these rigs. The only time it’s broken down in 10,000 miles of ownership is on the Cruiserfest trail ride from Denver to SLC. Broke a tie rod end. Got that fixed with a back country delivery in short order (with Ige’s direction, heckling, & colorful commentary.) Otherwise, it’s been a blast! My ‘80 was my best Land Cruiser, my Pig was my coolest-but Walt the 60 is my favorite! I’m currently on a “FIFO” Land Cruiser spouse-imposed limit of one at a time (from a high of 4 LC’s at once).Boss Hog,
