Not the most detailed picture out there, but a custom bumper I built with a bit of help from REVOR. Going for the Camel Trophy look

I wish I had more/better pics of it, but the truck has since been sold.

Here's what I had put on my Unimog...

It's got a 16000# Warn stuck up in there.

Mounted just below the right frame rail (picture left) there's a receiver tube that I put my trailer hitch into to make it easier to back my utility trailer into tight places.

I still need to toughen up the bumper a bit (fabricator used skip welds) and to put some rings with backing behind them.

You can see a few possibilities for mounting a winch on the rear.

It's an old picture, and not a close up, but mine was built was built by my buddy Joe Darlington in North Carolina. It's thicker than what he normally builds because of the tow bar system I have on the front. (show in the picture, hiding the license plate) The 8K winch is behind the Roadmaster tow bar. I used to haul it a lot behind my motorhome to the primo off road wheelin spot in the Country. Drove it al LOT to them too. Like this trip to the Rubicon from Texas.
This picture was taken a few years ago coming out of Loon Lake just before the Ice House Road Trail. As you can see, not a trail for your average store bought 4WD truck.

Here's a better closeup with my ugly mug in it.

Here's a picture of it jsut after I installed it. But, this was taken before the SAS on the Rodeo it has now.

I really miss those days! Been to busy working toward retirement to do any real Excursions lately.

Here's one that I built. I went tube trying to keep some of the weight down but it holds the winch, has tow points, and some mounts for extra light. I also wanted to protect the radiator and keep clearance to a max.

Not too much glamour...but a winch bumper/winchplate that mounts a winch and everything...

It's 9/32" AR500 plate with a Warn 6 ton hydraulic. Still not actually functional, amazingly.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to really put the winches to the test (maybe this isn't unfortunate....). At the very least they look good :)

Very nice use of the factory bumpers, looks really good!

Thanks....I was going for something original and also didn't mind saving some money by re-using factory steel. Admittedly the ends aren't quite as strong as they would be with plate or tube construction, but I reinforced the interior of the stock units with some gussets and tabs, so they are much stronger than stock. It is pretty cool coming up on the truck from the side, thinking the bumpers are stock, and then realizing that they are far from it...
