Can't wait to start seeing the build if you keep it [/QUOTE said:
Thanks! I plan on getting a shell that way I can store all the recovery gear back there and also build a carpet kit.

Plan is:

-ARB locker (from my Tundra)
-OME 885 soft kit
-GY Duratracs 265's load C
-Lightbar w/ my 4 HID's

Rode in one the other day and it felt like a boat going down the highway it was just soooo massive compared to my 98 lol But man I want one now!

The shell is a good idea. Is the same axle from your tundra the same as the one in new tacoma? Oh yea and OME wont let ya down its great :sombrero:

Yeah they are huge, but FAST! The ARB unit itself is the same for Tacoma's w/out elocker, T100's, and Tundra's. Its the 8.4" RD129. I'll have to remove the 3rd from the Tundra, take out the ARB, install the stock spiders back in, and install it in the Tacoma. Alot of work, but I just bought the thing I don't want to sell it. ARB's are the best!

Did you regear your Tundra when you put the ARB in? If so, what gearing? Correct me if I'm wrong but the older, non-double cab, first gen Tundra's '00-'02 have 3.90:1 gearing and the double cab first gen Tundra's have 4.10:1 gearing all still in the same Toyota 8.4 rear axle?

I left the gearing the same when I installed the ARB. Your right about the gearing thats in the Tundra's, but all AC Tundra's 00-06 have the same gearing, 3.90's. The only Tundra with 4.10's was the 2004 DC from what I've read. Reason being is that year the DC's still had the later engine and trans, so being heavier Toyota put 4.10's in them. 05-06 DC's with their upgraded engine and new trans had the same gear as ours, 3.90's. All years no matter what gearing still are the 8.4" ring gear (as do Tacoma's, T100's).

EDIT: Sorry for the hijack of this thread to other readers. Last question, I promise.

Is it safe to say then that a 1st Gen Tundra owner could source a set of 3rd members, 7.5" clam shell front and 8.4" rear non-trd, from Tacoma or T100 with the same axles but a lower (numerically) higher gear ratio to offset the larger tires on our trucks?

The ring&pinion should be the same, but the whole thrid member from a Tacoma will not line up on our Tundra's, different bolt patern. Not sure about the bolt pattern on the T100's, but its probably similar to the Taco's, but again the ring & pinion are the same. If you're looking into gears, the best thing to do is 4.56's. I've read that with 285's and that gearing its everything and more. Not to high in the RMP while cruzin on the HWY, but alot more power all around. I'm not to sure how much of a difference you'll feel or see with 4.10's...

Need's a charcoal colored company logo right across the bottom of the doors, just subtle enough to show up and allow you the write-off! :ylsmoke: Same setup I'm considering if we get another rig to replace my wrecked hot-rod.
