How did you like Cottonwood Canyon and where did you start from it is my to do list.

I've gone in from the west side exiting through Zion at Bench Road near Glenadale. The better/longer way is Cottonwood Canyon Road, east of Kanab. It's more remote.

I will say the utility lines took away from the experience of the first part of the drive. I also thought Smoky Mountain Road was a whole lot more interesting overall. And a lot more remote.

We started Cottonwood at the south end, and headed north, from Bigwater.

While perspectives vary, I didn't find any stretch of that road that remote. Mid week there were a decent number of folks around.

What lights are you running on the front bumper?

I'm not entirely sure - I bought them in a group buy on another forum. They're China lights. They're also fantastic. While I haven't had them wired up long enough to give a long term report, they've made it through a snowstorm and rain, and have no condensation. The light output is amazing! I had plans to add additional lights up front, but really don't need to anymore.
