Shower floor in the field?

Excelsior!
I used 1.3x1.3 redwood fencing material purchased from Home depot. It is already the perfect length. I sorted through and picked out the best pieces of wood. A bag of large wood beads. A pack of cord locks and some 3/16" or 1/4" rope/cord. Three holes drilled in each piece of wood. Strung with cord and separated with the beads. Thread one bead over the cord and double it through each, separating them with a bead. Cords are left long enough to roll up the mat. Once laid down and the cord tightened with the locks it makes a great mat.

What do you all use for the thing you stand on when you use your portable shower in the middle of nowhere?

No one wants to shower while standing in the mud you would produce or stand barefoot in cactus spines.

I just use the rubber floormats from the truck

Love the simplicity and dual purpose approach Scott, 9 words summed it up too, now that's efficiency!

For DIYer's, check out the carpet dept. at Home Depot, new 50mm vinyl flooring that looks like leather, can roll up, fold of be glued down, looks like great stuff with lots of uses. The is also a silver diamond plate pattern, not bright shinny, but it has a duller shine to it, looks like the real thing.

For a fixed shower project I think I'll go with the 27" round hot water heater pan and put some feet under it for the drain :)

not exactly something that will fit in a backpack : )

But since we are always vehicle based overlanding....

Here is an image of the bathroom/shower closet my wife designed and van specialties fabricated for us;

and open in shower mode. what you see is a simple Home Depot ~2' x 3' mixing tub.
On the upper shelf is a battery operated garden sprayer for the shower hot water supply.

I use mostly my boot trays; got some with about a 1" lip from Target. Great inside the van, outside tents, etc etc. I now carry two in the van, and one always stays inside. I just flip it over if I want the water to drain off.

I've also used those HF shop mats; in fact, I've covered the floor of the van with them. Reduces noise, useful outside for all sortsa stuff, and keeps the footsies warmer. And more comfy.
