Side Vs. Back opening RTT

Rear for me...

My 91 Trooper has barn doors that open to the rear. My annex room has a "rear" door that allows me access to the contents of the Trooper's cargo area (yet easily secured) and also I've considered making a platform for the roof just over the passenger area (in front of the tent's rear door) as sort of a "deck" where i can hang out at night and stargaze, or put my cooler for easy bedtime access without cluttering up the tent.

I also see the value in being able to park literally anywhere and set up. Obviously this is all just personal preference, but I for one could care less about looks... functionality is my need.

I prefer to have the tent go off to the side because I have a family sized tent. Because the tent is 87" long it can only open 1 way. That being said, if I had a smaller tent I would still prefer to have deploy over the side because I pull a trailer. As far as the tent sitting to one side if it is side deploy is not true what so ever. I have no idea why someone would make that statement.
