so, I've had my dr650 for a little over a year, and currently its on its second incarnation of life. it came to me new, in the winter of 2014, and i quickly got it ready to go to dual sport riding. its had pretty much everything done to it, with the exception of the engine/carb/exhaust. i prefer to keep things relatively stock in that respect, as i don't want to be stuck out in the sticks and have something crap the bed.
this is version 1.0, it had gotten some pretty comprehensive work, front and rear suspension re worked, big tank, nicer seat, bars, hand guards, skid plate, rear rack, tail light, etc, theres plenty more, but thats the large stuff
version 2.0 saw a color change, the grey blends in with the asphalt, so i switched it up to mostly white, but with a black fender (still with black tank), and the addition of a second set of wheels, 19" up front, 17 rear, with more street oriented tires on it. I've been pretty well keeping it in this trim, with out a lot of time to ride dirt, but had (until recently sold) a second set of wheels with dirt tires. after my last weekend on the bike in the dirt, i decided it was just too dang heavy to ride aggressively in the dirt, and ill look for something lighter, and probably orange to accompany it in the stable (after the van)
so thats the mighty DR650 up to date.
so, whats to come?
new wider wheels, 100% street rubber, digital gauge, some clutch work, grips, full servicing, etc.
heres a quick shot of the new front wheel with 320mm supermoto brake rotor, new front wheel is 19x2.5" same size as some of the larger adventure bikes, the new rear (still inbound) is 17x4.25, which will allow some nice sticky rubber.
Stay tuned.
