Skinny Guy Campers

I am getting a bit more serious about purchasing, and most of the boxes seem to be checked by Skinny Guy Campers Base Cap 5.0. I am not sure I like this one the most out of the others on the market, but this seems to be more the one that fits my overlanding "needs" as opposed to wants. Cab height, easily removeable (most smaller truck toppers don't offer this, Tune M1L says maybe soon..., fits lots of makes/models in case it needs to be sold, not overly heavy. I'm not saying the design isn't amazing, because it appear to be engineered really well and a lot of thought went into this. I'm not excited about the top being basically just a snap on tent, that the structure isn't bolted/clamped down to the bed, not a lot of available options, and the biggest concern is probably the 40 inch-wide bed. That's pretty small for 2 people. Admittedly, my wife and I are definitely on the smaller side, so it may not be as much of a concern for us as it would be for someone else.

My real question here is (after reading all I can find in the forums so far) Does anyone here want to give me your experience with Skinny Guy Campers? More specifically with the Basecap, but their regular model is fairly similar in overall structure so I'd love to hear good or bad on either. I can't shake the feeling that these aren't being marketed as widely as maybe they used to be, so I may be buying something that's not going to be around for much longer.

Use the search feature. I saw a few discussions on them.

I have stayed in a few at shows, as my brother is a dealer for them. I do not remember the bed feeling narrow, but It was just me, + a 90ib dog.

They were built well, and had some pretty good designs and engineering. But I have not been in one for a few years.

The bed is fairly large if you do a exped mega or mega max.

I love mine. I would move some items around and change th way the sink plumbing works. I plan to do some custom work on it this winter for that.

I also want to access some more things from the outside. The 5.5’ is better about that. So is the gladiator.
