Sliding Rear Windows on JF62, Any Experience?

I've been considering swapping out my rear fixed windows with sliders primarily for better ventilation and also for my Jack Russell who always rides in the way-back. Has anyone had any experience with the swap? SOR sells used OEM (Aussie) ones as well as new aftermarket ones with screens, seen below.

I've done the swap on a rear window on my F-250, an aftermarket item that worked pretty well with the help of some silicone. Any input would be appreciated.

Long before we got our 62 (maybe 5 years ago), I remember talking with a guy that had the Aussie sliders and if I recall, the trim pieces didn't fit right and it looked a little funky. Now if $OR has developed their own as a replacenent for the US glass, they may have addressed this.

There's a lot of talk about the SOR reproductions and the Aussie take-off sliding windows over on www.ih8mud.com. The consensus is that neither the SOR or the used Aussie imports seem to be a simple swap.

Some have had a very hard time with the fit and finish of the SOR reproduction pieces. Others have not. I seems that it depends on your idea of fit and finish. Some people have had to deal with 1/2 inch gaps and re-bending the sheet metal.

I think the biggest complaint with the Aussie take-offs is that the quality of the used item comes into question and the interior trim pieces are hard to replicate. Some have reported receiving two different locking mechanisms between the right and left side in the set (not from SOR however, just something to consider when ordering).

Thanks for the reply, recalling the swap on my f-250 rear window, I took the replacement to a auto-glass shop and had them do it for me, there's a real knack to getting the gasket in place that requires the use of soaped-rope (interesting to watch so-called experts do it). I'm glad I did, these guys do this day-in and day-out and it seemed challenging to them. The half-inch gap isn't a pretty fit, I'll check the IH8MUD thread, thanks.

I had the Toyota factory windows from Australia and hated the way they looked. They are basically glued to the outside of the body and definitely pose a security issue. It didn't help the body shop that installed mine tried to fill the gap they leave with some sort of putty. That was a lesson learned in just trust yourself and do it at home. The actual windows themselves were awesome for ventilation but they do not flow with the body lines on the 60. Toyota got it right with the 80 series but the 60 looks like an after thought. I'll see if I can find some pics. The ones from Spectre seem to fit better and they have a screen which would be nice.
