Slow build- the vanagon replacement

'95 seems to stick in my memory as the cut-off year for the pop out rear windows. I see them fairly regularly at the local Pick'n'Pull.

Update- 17k miles since 4x4 complete, just finished a 3500 mile trip, loaded down with motorcycle, whitewater boats and gear.
-13.6 mpg average on trip
-5.4 and 3.73 gears are suiting me great, a couple of the harder pulls she was grunting but had more to give(fretted a lot if this combo was going to be enough. I find it is sufficient for my needs, if I was planning on towing much would definitely go v10 or diesel.)
-I am mostly satisfied with the 4" lift, but bottoms out a little more then expected. Would probably go 6" and regear for 35s if starting from scratch again.
✌️

I really dig this van. Giving me lots of ideas.
As far as bottoming out goes, I hit twice and then I got really aggressive with the plasma cutter. I haven't bottomed out again so far. I can take a pic of the crossmember if you need it.

Awesome! Plenty more technical threads for know how, I always like browsing how everyone sets theres up. Figure I can contribute with pics. I have the center x-member trimmed up good, I am bottoming the bump stops on the frame. Not an issue on road but I guess I am off pavement and on rough roads more than I thought. I am in the process of going up to 6", looking forward to the tighter turn radius and trac bar.
