Take the head off and check the reed valve. I bet its broken. It's an easy fix and I've had no problems since I've fixed mine.

Nice. Thanks for the info.

That is what I carry in my DD. Fits in a gallon zip lock and gets used...maybe once a year. Can inflate a space saver spare fairly well and to the 60 psi. Otherwise use it only on car tires. Truck, jeep, and oversized tires, this thing ain't gonna do it. However for a sedan that you need to add 5 psi to a tire, it ain't bad. The main thing for me is I'm not using it often and I don't want a big thing killing my trunk space. I've had this pump for like, 8 years or so. It works well for the size and price.

Anyone tried the super flow mv-90? I'm curious how it compares to the viair 480... local store has a Christmas sale on the 480 for $200.. pretty much a similar price to the mv-90 (purchase price + shipping since I can't find one locally).

I'm still happy with my mv-50 but my brother might want an upgrade for Christmas ...

BIG differences in the 2.

For one the MV-90 (at least nowhere I could find) states duty cycle? My "guess" would be 50-75% duty on the MV-90 but I could be wrong? I did find a reference to 40 minute continuous operation at 75*. The Viair 480 is rated at 100% duty cycle, in other words run it to inflate as many tires as you like and it will chug along happily (in theory). Also a big difference, the Viair is rated at 20 AMP draw, the MV-90 is rated at a rather astonishing 45 AMPS?

If it were up to me, and for the smallish difference in price, I would opt for the 100% duty cycle 20 AMP draw Viair. For the record, I own a MV-50 and the 5 or 6 times I have used it, is has performed great. Only running 31's and only air down once in a while. Nice to have, and most of the people I travel with have OBA so I usually always have a backup. I was leaning towards the Puma with the 2.5 gal tank...then a buddy had his blow up on its 5th or 6th use. Hmmm....

A larger current draw is actually a good thing for a compressor. It means it has a larger motor and likely a larger compressor head.

The duty cycle at 40 min @ 75 psi on the mv90 is far more than I would ever need. I can't imagine ever requiring a 100℅ duty cycle.

I'm more wondering about loudness, size, user features etc... the things that aren't in the statistics. The mv90 clearly has the upper hand when it comes to the stats but I know stats never tell the whole story.

I do like the 200psi rating on the 480 though...

That is by far the highest AMP draw I have seen on a 12v compressor (maybe I need to get out more). While I agree in 110v or 240v situations more is well, more better... in a 12v system that could be a deal killer for many people. The duty cycle not being 100% somewhat surprised me given the cost and performance otherwise?

Either way you go, these are both good comps.

The IRO one in the link above looks nearly identical to the Puma that my friend had. Looked awesome, blew up fast. Mind you his cost far less than that so maybe his was an imposter??

The price includes an install kit with wiring and relays and stuff. It can be omitted. And the price of just the comp is around 280.

Those of you who have the Viair 88p - how do you think it compares long-term with the MV50? Looking for a budget-friendly but backcountry-reliable way to air up 31's. No air tools involved.
