Smittybilt Scout Trailer Reviews?

I store my stabilizer jacks in tongue box while traveling. I am looking at making a mount to put them on the side of the trailer but haven't gotten to it yet.

If you weld a couple of flat bars on the brackets you can pin them on the side of the rack for the RTT.
Or turn them upside down and across they can be stored in their frame position.

Hey all, been setting up my trailer, couple of questions...
Are the two rear stabilzer jacks meant to be mounted (in the up position of course)while travelling? the pin makes me nervous, only has that spring loaded tab to hold it in, not a cotter pin like i am used to..
Also, what solar panel setup are you using? i have a 12v deep cycle id like to have a continous charge from a panel mounted to top of the front box (tongue box).. any ideas?
Thanks!!

If you go to a tractor supply store you can buy a better pin that has a collar on one side and a ball on the other.
I use a 50 watt solar. In theory should work fine.....but I have an engel fridge that use less energy than the others.
Some have a 100 watt panel.

I do.
I am however away from home right now until wedensday.
You can however flip a few pages back in this thread as i did post a picture I believe of the brackets I made before installing them on the rear bumper.

On youtube there is a couple with video's using Herculiner with a 1 year review and they said it was well worth it. I am doing my trailer over the next two weeks top to bottom with Herculiner. The only wear area's that they had were where cargo could move around on the bottom floor. I think, if they put a 1/4 sheet of ply wood down to stop that wear. There site is called "The Wobbly Otter".
Thanks! I think I am going to go with the U-POL Raptor Black Urethane Spray-On Truck Bed Liner Kit., as there are a lot of good reviews. The paint on this trailer really stinks, IMO. I set a plastic 5 gallon Jerry Can on the fender to see how it would fit and the little bit of dirt on the bottom of the can scratched right through the paint. I'll DA the whole exterior, acid etch any bare metal and then coat with the Raptor liner. I fixed the rear door sag, when closed, with a 1" square alum tube placed and glued in the drip trim area of the door in the upper right. You have to slightly lift the door when closing, but the aluminum tube holds the door up and stops the sag. That being said I really like everything else about this trailer. I hope it holds up out on the back roads! Oh, and painted the shocks red!0409181110.jpg0409181111.jpg0409181112_HDR.jpg0409181112b_HDR.jpg

I have been making some additions to my trailer; adding interior LED lighting, switch panel, battery (etc..), installing a RTT, adding a table on top of the fender in the kitchen area.
I am now looking for solar charging and exterior lighting solutions... cant wait to actually take it out and use it!

Hey Tkhawk. Been awhile since I've seen ya. How your trailer doing? I'm finally headed to big bend with ours. Gonna pull it threw the black gap and see how it does. Really only 2 tricky parts down side of the canyon and back up other side but I'll post how it goes. Having probs posting pics on here they changed some things. Look at the size of your thread now!! Should call you Moses. Lol all your children and there trailers.

It's doing great, just not getting used enough. Weekend before last my little girl said we don't go camping enough, so we sat it up in the yard!

I still need to find time to finish my tire swing out and maybe build a drawer for the pantry and tons of other little things. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but I love that there is always more to do to it.

That will be an awesome trip, my club is making a trip out later this month but unfortunately I won't be able to make it.

I know it's awesome seeing all of the builds on here, there is no lack of inspiration!

Smart! Harbor Freight magnetic tool rails?

How did you turn your stove drawer around?
