Smittybilt seat covers

Mine finally came today! I will post some pics of them tomorrow when I have some light.
Some additional info up front for those who are interested:
1. Manufactured for: Smitty Built, each bag has their logo tag.
2. Quality: The material's (cordura, fast tech buckles, shock cord, webbing) appear to be of the best quality that China has to offer. Yes, they are made in China...:yikes: I was shocked myself, but still I am impressed with the quality.
3. The attachment system for the pouches are the same that everyone sees on modern military equipment. Yes, it can be a bit ruff for the non-military but after almost 20 years in the military I appreciate the tight fit the system provides. It will not come off unless you want it off.
4. While they may be made in China....each seat comes with a US Flag! Yah got to love that feature.
5. More to follow (MTF) tomorrow.....

My driver side seat cover was waiting for me at home this weekend.

The pockets can be taken off and arranged however you want.

I used all of the pockets that came with the covers, and still have room for plenty more.

I've found that I use the roll up dump bag more than any of the others.

I had a passenger in the rear seat this weekend, my 6' tall little brother, and he had plenty of room even with all of the bags in place. I even hopped back there and there is suprisingly still quite a bit of leg room.

Well, a few days has passed with one of them being on......
Not as "Jim Dandy" as first glance would have one believe.
1. One of the shock cords came out of the connector on the hook leaving me to tying it into a knot to hook it back on.
2. Fitting and seat coverage leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to the seat cushion.......(99 TJ Stock Seats)
3. It was such that I only put one on yet the other sat in the box in the garage.
4. The Cordura is coated on the underside. When coated Cordura gets cold it becomes brittle and crackles.....works great in Central & South America. Kinda sucks in Northern Virginia when the temp drops below zero.

Ol well, just like anything on a Jeep...it is time for some mods. I personally think that if the designers had thought about the cover for about 10 minutes longer they would have been right on target.

Current plan is to attach a bungee cord around the seat between the back and seat cushion to help hold the bottom portion of the cover in place. I have a friend with the exact aftermarket seats I am looking at getting and will see what kind of fit I can get on them. Being out of the Jeep will help get it perfect...well, 80% anyhow.

Sorry to sound so negative on these covers but of course this is just my perspective. Others will have their own experiences.

And I guess if you need more pouches to add (I might jettison the big bags shown on the bottom of the catalog pics) and replace them with a few smaller bags/pouches

Thanks for the info on these. I just bought the Smittybilt seats and you get a FREE set of these seat covers through 4 Wheel Parts. The covers I am being told will be at my house at the end of this week an I am really looking forward to them. I am not running any rear seats so this should not be a problem at all for the size. Thanks. Later...Clint

Intentionally bumping an old thread, those of you with the Seat Covers, how are they holding up longterm? Quality issues with heavy use?

I've had them on my KJ for a year now, and they are still very good. I dumped some of the pouches that came with the covers and bought some military MOLLE pouches which better suited the kit I carry. The backs stay anchored very well, the seat cushion part not so good - I've just put some elastic shock cord at the junction of the seat back and cushion to tension that part a little better.

I am still very happy with the purchase, and delighted with the additional storage space that I have!

I bought one of these for my TJ. I ended up cutting the entire bottom piece off so it would fit better and I did not have to worry about the cords under the seat that kept coming loose. There is no leg room for the rear passengers at all. I ended up ditching the entire seat cover all together and I am now hanging the pouches off my raingler netting I have which is much better. I just saw a new concept yesterday for the pouches. They are now able to be placed overhead, between the roll bar and the front windshield, which seems like a good idea, I may try to do something similar. Check them out here: http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/92.htm
