Smittybuilt XRC8 or Superwinch LP8500?

The XRC8 can be had for $300 delivered and the LP8500 is about $100 more.

Which one is better and why?

Many Thanks...

Ok hear we go. The first winch I ever bout for my XJ was a XRC8. Worst decision I ever made.
1) The female controller connection on the winch broke off the second time I used it.
2) The directions told me if I was using a battery with side and top mount connections to use the posts not in use by the starter. I melted the sides off of my new Yellow Top
3) I made 3 pulls on it. First time out with it and the winch burnt out. Not that hard of pulls. I have now stressed my Tabor 9K to the max and it still stands up.
The worst of it all is first thing Monday I was back to the dealer he called Smittybuilt and without ever asking a question of seeing the winch declared that I must have done something wrong to kill the winch. The dealer came good for it and then went after Smittybuilt and now they don’t sell their winches anymore.

I would go with the Super winch. Good history, parts are available not jacking the prices up like Warn. I would also take a look at T-max I have not experienced one yet but have heard good reviews.

In my mind, there are only two vendors that I would trust for winches. WARN and Superwinch (particularly the higher end stuff).

S[m,h]ittybuilt will be re-labelled Chinese "junk".

I've heard good things about the Titan Winch brand. It's Chinese but made to spec for someone in either Oz or NA (forget which).

I hear you.

The LP8500 is not higher end...

I spoke with the tech guy at Titan, he seemed like a stand up guy and was more than willing to discuss his winches. He thinks highly of them and it seems that they will stand behind them.
