Snow Peak Addiction

Bought the IGT Extension table on sale this summer. I have an IGT4 which is great, but the extension table is different and good for a 2 set-up. Only downside, is that you can't use the grill or high heat as the heat can burn the bamboo top. Using regular burners seems fine, but I did move the tables out with a large flat griddle as I didn't wanted to dissipate the heat.

What I like: simple and east to setup, good size for a 2 unit IGT, bamboo side table units already attached and slide to each side, comes with sturdy bag, comes with metal corner protectors for the bamboo tables, well made and is way more elegant than camping equipment.

What I don't like: heavy, can't use BBQs due to burning the bamboo side table, low height is not adjustable, expensive

I took it to the Black Rock Desert in June to test it out and overall, I like it, especially if I am solo camping or with just one other. Its much quicker to set-up and take down than a full IGT with legs and inserts. It also stores smaller than an IGT 4 as it is much shorter.

I brought out 4 chairs to test height and do a comparison. The IGT Extension is short and the low luxury chair seems to be the best and shortest height. The regular low chair is slightly higher, the Take long sits you back and is not conducive to cooking, but very comfortable for lounging. The Front Runner Expander chair is more like a conductor chair and sits higher. But being upright, cab work. I am used to standing while preparing meals when camping, so it was kinda nice to sit and relax a bit.

Looking at the pics, I realized I forgot to take a shot of what it looks like with 2 IGT burners in it. Alos, the Front Runner box was used a windbreak and you can see I extended both tables away from the burner to avoid any heat build up. Probably not necessary but it was my first time using it.

NICE! Just checked in with @cactusjk
He needs 6 orders to run a new batch at $90 shipped. Me and you, plus 4 more orders! Who's out there and ready to do some Fall bbq box cooking??
If anyone else is out there, we're still looking for 6 total buyers for the charcoal riser, in case anyone came back from SPW all excited. I think we have 3 loose commitments.

Looks like Snow Peak is making some interesting updates to the IGT line. These will either be a home run or spectacular failure.

I saw the announcement of the updates. Always cool to see SP gear updates after all the focus on clothing the last few years. I am undecided if it is 'hot' or 'not'. If you don't have any frames yet, it makes some sense to buy collapsible frames. But since I already own a 4 and 2 unit frame, I am not yet tempted to buy a collapsible one. Because I almost always bring an extension table and some inserts the space saving seems negligable. Look forward to seeing them in someones setup though (y)

I like the idea of the collapsible frame and will likely get a 2u or 3u collapsible one. I too doubt i would get a full set up though for the same reasons... if i bring an extension table the collapsible frame doesn't really save me much space.

Always wanted a little more height out of the IGT when standing so worked with my leg supplier to create an adjustable XL leg. 660, 830 and 920 settings are allowed, which means it also easily integrates with existing legs and heights. It can even be used with the Snow Peak height adapter to drop from 920 to either 830 or 600.

These are the final production models, much more comfortable. Really excited to take them into the field next weekend.

Yeah, for the life of me, I don't know why SP stopped making the adjustable legs. They are very handy.

For me, they were way too wobbly. The fixed length are way better. It was nice to be able to adjust them, but it was just annoying that the whole setup felt cheap because of the legs.

Cooking and eating was mostly fine, but the food prep was where it really seemed to magnify the problem. I ended up adding an aluminum tape wrap to them to take up a little room, and that definitely helped, but didn't completely solve it.
