Snow peak baja burner on propane tank. Anyone done this yet?

I know there is a lot of thought put into overlanding and some one has got this figured out.

I want to connect my Snow Peak Baja burner (lindal valve) to a standard 20# propane tank (not canister).

Anyone ?????

I know this post originated a few years ago, but did you get this to work for you?
I can’t speak for the OP, but I use a copy of that adapter with my Jetboil when camper camping. It works with zero issues. Since SnowPeak uses the same type canister, I can’t imagine that it wouldn’t work.
I’m fantasizing about building a SnowPeak IGT system using a pair of Bajas for cooking.

I've been using propane -- initially the green 1lb cans, and of late a 5lb -- with the baja stove for 10 years. I bought a Kovea LPG adapter which has a pressure controller intended for summer/winter adjustments, and also helps at different elevations. It works flawlessly. This past winter I got an Ignik 5lb tank and hose that was compatible with LPG portable propane devices like a coleman stove. The Kovea adapter worked with the new set up as well as with the 1lb tanks. P1120014.JPG P1120014.JPG

Im assuming the above set up would work with the teppanyaki burner as well? The kovea adapter + Ignik 5lb tank? Off grid living, don't need mobile set up, but rather not have the metal canisters waste if i can reuse something else. Thanks!

It did work for me with the snow peak. However, stove works much better on camp gas canisters.
There is a trade off with propane but from my 10 years of using the Baja with propane I don't see it as a huge issue. A lot of our camping and almost all of our initial 3 year road trip Isobutane and especially the snowpeak variety of canisters simply were not available. Try finding that in the Yukon or Newfoundland, and even rural NC or NM.
We're back in the van we sold 5 years ago -- and the one we started our road trip out of Juneau with -- and frankly I'm using isobutane because I can't bring myself to set up the 5lb propane tank in the van for the short trips we are now doing.

Before I put propane in the tank and turn it on, am I missing anything? Should I put plumbers tape on the brass threads where it screws into the kovea adapter? Is there any other tidbits to keep in mind when doing it this way, either safety, wear and tear or something?

Thanks!

You really shouldn’t need any tape. I’ve got a Camping Moon adapter but it’s all good. You’ll either smell a leak or not. Can’t miss it.

My advice would be to try it outside. I never had any problems with the original set-up we used with the tank and adapter, but better safe than blown to hell.
