Yesterday afternoon I was scanning craigslist for random stuff. I stumbled upon the below 4runner in Austin and sent the link to my wife who is working off shore of Ghana. She calls me an hour later and says go buy it. We love the Xterra especially that monster V6 and manual transmission but she is in love with 3rd gen 4Runners. This morning I take the 7:30 greyhound to Austin and wind up driving it back home.
The funny thing is we weren't in the market for a new vehicle but just stumbled upon this very clean 2002 Limited Edition 4X4 4Runner. I prefer the 4 door rubicons but they're too much $.
The downside to this vehicle is neither of us have ever owned an automatic transmission and love manuals, but the stick shift 4Runners all have too many miles. Also, I really wanted a locking rear diff but again, they are hard to find with low miles.
I bought the 4runner from the original owner and he provided all the maintenance records from the local Toyota dealer.
The 4Runner is a limited edition with every option including heated front and rear seats. Our 2005 Xterra will go up for sale tomorrow and I may even sell my Jeep to fund parts for the 4Runner. I enjoy tinkering with my Jeep but I can only have one project at a time.
I've spent all night researching 4Runners. In the future I hope to add 265/75/16 BFG AT's, maybe an OME lift, warn winch, armor, etc.
It only has 56,000 miles!!! Now for some pics...sorry for the huge pics; I'll try to re-size them tonight.
