SoCal Tear Drop Owners! Post up!

Can you use a Foxwing with the SoCal rear hatch?

I designed a 5x9TD with a different shape that would allow for a Foxwing and RTT on top to accommodate our family. One of my big quips with the currently available TDs is that the galley isn't terribly useful in the rain!

I had an idea to mount a left side awning on the right side to have it cover the right side and the front of the trailer. After some research I found another So-Cal owner who had done the same thing and he says it works great! Here is a picture of his. (I hope he doesn't mind me using his photo)

I didn't do on board water. I didn't want the maintenance that comes with it. I went the simple route for my build.

I don't know what thread or who asked. But I finally put a fitted sheet on my mattress from the 459 model. I had a full size mattress sheet laying around in the linen closet. the sheet I have fit pretty good. I don't know if the sheet has deep pockets or not but it fits pretty well. the mattress is just a tad longer than a real full size mattress but the sheet worked.

I was asked today if I wanted the flipper doors in the galley. Do you guys have the door on the sides of the pass through. I'm wondering if they might take away from needed storage depth or help secure items. Any experience with this area? Again this is in the galley not cabin, that will be a question for a later post :)

Ps: Going with the water w/water heater. Makes wife happy!

I went with the kitchen galley upgrade that adds 2 drawers under the stovetop. Is that what you are referring to?

Good call on the hot water heater BTW lol. Keep Wifey happy.

I just did the door on the pass through. they have a screen option too but I thought the door would look better for privacy.

I did the extra drawers under the burner too. I like though that you have a good storage area under the stove if you don't plan to add the drawers.

We have a Foxwing on our SoCal TD. We raise the hatch, then open the Foxwing. I just drop the one tie down and unclip the tension strap and push the awning aside to close the hatch. Works great, and keeps most of the rain out of the kitcken. If it rains hard we just close the hatch.

Hey everyone, I'm eagerly awaiting a well-optioned 510 from Jon at CCT; looking like delivery in early September. I haven't been able to crawl inside one but figured since it'll be myself (6'2"), my girlfriend (6'), and her two little wiener dogs the larger size would be more comfortable for us. Tow vehicle is a 2012 Tacoma Double Cab TRD Off-Road, pin striping courtesy of all the bushes on the trails. Looking forward to more adventures!

John built mine as well. He does great work. The Tacoma will do fine. My Tacoma has pulled my teardrop over 7500 miles.

looking forward to seeing the final product.
