2001 Tacoma TRD Double Cab
This has been a fabulous truck. I've owned it since 175K and 2017, when the previous owner upgraded with an OME lift, winch, and ARB bumper. It was a Boise, then Portland vehicle before that time. I've had some wonderful adventures in this rig and it's incredibly capable off-road, but my growing family is insisting that we have a vehicle that prioritizes comfort on road trips over a great, maneuverable off road truck. It's as close to a Hilux Aussie ute as I could find in the US market. I've maintained this truck with the intent of keeping it to 500K and then switching the engine to a diesel, but alas.
Condition:
I have a big running list of maintenance if you want to see it. I'm particular about having everything work properly on my rigs, no matter the age. Here's the highlights -

Condition:
- Mileage: 225K
- Paint: worst part of the truck - roof and hood have clear coat burn through. 4.5/10
- Body: generally straight, a few dings no dents. 9/10
- Interior: great shape, all plastics intact, no upholstery rips, tears, or stains. 8/10
- Factory features: does not have rear e-locker (this had the towing package with a stronger, open diff), does have cruise
- ARB front bumper
- Warn M10000 winch with Masterpull synthetic line and roller fairlead - yes you can use them and they are easier on your syn line
- OME lift with add-a-leafs in the rear to support heavy trip payloads/RTTs
- 16" Toyota steel wheels with BFG KO2s, approx 50% tread left
- RCI aluminum skid plate
- Rock rails (can't remember the brand, will refinish before next owner)
- Flexible front mud flaps
- Morimoto D2S HID projectors in new housings. These headlights are like frickin' lasers, as good as any BMW I've ever driven.
- Color-matched hi-lift mounts on front bumper
- Pioneer stereo
- Backup cam with screen integrated into rear-view mirror
- Alarm with keyless entry
- Magnetic phone mount and wired in full-time Apple power cable
- Spray in bedliner
- Snugtop topper with electronic locking handle integrated into keyless entry system
- Thule Roof Rack on tracks, matching front and rear (rear crossbar was damaged on the trail this summer, pictures show it off the truck while I'm waiting for parts)
- Rhino Pioneer Platform with room on one side to strap Maxx Traxx down
- Rhino Awning does NOT go with it... I love that thing
- Weathertech mats front and back
I have a big running list of maintenance if you want to see it. I'm particular about having everything work properly on my rigs, no matter the age. Here's the highlights -
- All engine mechanical has been done by the Toyota dealer during my ownership. Engine does not leak oil.
- Always run Amsoil Signature oil/filters with extended intervals. I have Blackstone oil analysis records for every change for the last ~50K.
- All front end wear components (tie rods, steering rack bushings, sway bar links and bushings, lower A-arms) replaced at 35K mi ago
- Timing belt/water pump/drive belts replaced at 200K
- Radiator and thermostat replaced at 200K
- Front pads and rotors replaced 3K ago, with synthetic brake fluid backflush
- All ignition components replaced 40K ago, plugs 3K ago
- Had all seatbelts re-webbed ~100mi ago, they retract like a new car now. This is an annoying problem the 1st Gens have as they age.
