Putting up our truly loved GX for sale. We are definitely getting older and we do not need extra vehicles any longer. It has very low mileage.. 136,000 miles, barely 7500 miles a year. Only going up very little each day as it is not driven much. We are the second owners and purchased it at 70k in 2015 from a premium motorsport dealer in Oregon. It is now in Reno, Nevada the last couple of years and has been on the west coast its whole life.
Engine is Toyota’s venerable 4.9L V8 engine, which can easily be confirmed to go a million miles with good maintenance. It gets a solid 22mpg on the highway and a variable 18mpg around town. The oil has been changed every 5k miles with Mobil 1 synthetic, along with a Toyota brand oil filter. Timing belt and water pump were changed at 91k. We have had no problems with the engine and have receipts for work that was done.
The AWD drivetrain is in excellent condition. The center differential is a Torsen limited-slip for added traction. All other components of AWD system, transfer case, drivelines and differentials are in excellent condition.
Maintenance wise ALL fluids throughout the GX have been flushed and replaced multiple times in our ownership. At this point I am not aware of any upcoming problems. It has been bulletproof as one would expect of a Toyota product. Rims are near perfect and new Cooper Discovery AT3s white snow flake tires were put on about 4k miles ago. So excellent winter tires.
Interior is in great shape. Leather is perfect and has been protected with real sheepskins during our ownership. No rips, tears, stains and no smoking even before we purchased it. Occasionally our Basenji dogs have ridden in it. They are a breed that does not shed and are hypoallergenic.
Now for a couple negatives. The dash cracked a couple of years ago. Lexus would not cover replacing it as that service bulletin had expired. We installed a really nice dash cover. The other negative is the paint is “Blizzard Pearl White”. The 2007 models that had this color have incidences of peeling paint. This GX has peeled on space between door window chrome and the upper part of the doors. Over the last couple of years it has not gotten any worse. Lexus had a bulletin for repainting. However by the time our GX peeled it had expired.
I believe this GX has many years and miles left to go even tho it has a cracked dash and a paint issue. The few issues will not stop it from being ready for any adventure or road trip right now and for years to come.
