We are selling our beloved 2018 XPCamper V1e and 2006 Dodge RAM 3500 Big Horn Edition with the 5.9L Cummins engine and 101K miles on it. The camper has been used for one big trip (from Colorado to Ushuaia, Argentina). In our opinion, this is the best pop up camper on the market and it is a true overland expedition vehicle. Both the camper and the truck have been meticulously maintained. XPCamper is now Nimbl Vehicles (https://nimblvehicles.com/xpcamper/) which is located in California and provides maintenance on the XPCamper V1e. We are planning on attending the Overland Expo West and Mountain West if you would like to take a look at the rig during either of these shows. We are also happy to do video call with you so that you can see the rig before seeing it in person. We are not willing to sell the camper without the truck (or vice versa). If you are interested please contact us (Karl and Leah) at 303-587-4819 (Karl) or karlwolf@gmail.com. We are located in Boulder, Colorado.
The truck
The truck is a low milage (101K) 2006 Dodge RAM 3500 Big Horn Edition with the legendary 24-valve 5.9-liter in-line six-cylinder Cummins diesel engine. This is the last year that Dodge made the 5.9L Cummins engine and it is, in our opinion, the best diesel engine to buy, especially if you are going south of the border where only high sulfur diesel is sold. We just replaced all of the fuel injectors (at a cost of $3,435) and it is running like new. The modifications to the truck include the following:
- Comfort - Scheel-Mann Vario F Seats
- Recovery/safety - An ARB Dual Air Compressor, a backup camera, a custom, powder coated XPCamper Aluminum Front Bumper w/ PIAA LED fog and driving lights and a 18″ PIAA LED Light Bar and a Warn Winch with synthetic cable (16.5 TI-S)
- Suspension - Custom Deaver Leaf Springs (3' wide, 3 leaf buildup), a Hellwig Rear Stabilizer Bar, Icon 3" Progressive Coil Springs, Icon Reservoir Shocks (37705CP), upgraded front end components, e..g, ball joints, damper, gear kit, joints, steering kit, etc. and an upgraded the differential carrier
- Theft protection - Jimmi' Jammer in door lock protectors, Madico ClearPlex Automotive Safety Film, security film on all of the truck windows, a Ravelco anti theft device, a Tuffy Center Secury Console (lock box) and 2 types of locking wheel lug nuts
- Other - A 37 quart ARB fridge, an ARB Differential Breather Kit, a 60 gallon Titan fuel tank and an SPod Switch Panel
The flatbed and storage box
The flatbed is an XPCamper V1e aluminum flatbed with lots and lots of storage space. In addition, we added a huge aluminum storage box. We used this to store a boogie board, a mountain bike, a surfboard and other stuff during our trip. The storage box (which could be removed) slides to the side giving you access to 2 rear storage containers. There is also a secret slide out drawer which we used to store all of our recovery mats and tools (it's also a great secret compartment for storing cheese, meat and produce when crossing certain borders). Overall, between the storage box, the storage containers in the flat bed and the numerous storage containers in th the interior of the XPCamper, you will not lack storage space, even on an around world trip if you have lots of hobbies like we do.
The camper
The camper is a late 2018 seamless monocoque pop up camper with an automated electric, pop-up mechanism. The electronic lift raises the camper by approximately 1 meter in less than 30 seconds, providing you with 6 and 1/2 feet of internal headroom. The bright, spacious interior of the camper includes a bathroom with a cassette toilet and a heated shower, a queen size bed with an Froli European spring mattress system, a comfortable dinette that seats 2 - 4 people and a kitchen with an induction cooktop, microwave and sink. One of the things we like best about the XPCamper is how bright it is. Not only is it white, but it’s full of windows, including a huge rear window which is at the perfect hight to allow you to get amazing views when you are eating, hanging out or working at the table. We also love how comfortable the seating area is.
Specific features of the camper include the following:
- Awning - A 9' Dometic self supporting awning with an LED light bar and remote (Model 9500)
- Batteries - 4 300A, 6V Lifeline AGM Batteries (600A 12V) with a Magnum Battery Monitor Kit

The dimensions
The dimensions of the rig are roughly 7.5M (length), 2.3M (width), 2.6M (height). When closed the camper is only 56″ higher than the truck bed reducing wind drag and making it easier to drive into campgrounds or on roads with a hight limit. This rig will fit in a high cube container with room to spare for another smaller overland vehicle. However, you can also remove all of your personal possessions from the cab and flat bed and put them on the floor of the camper and ship the rig via RORO. There is no way for anyone to get into the camper when it is down and no pass through between the camper and the truck so this is also a secure way to ship it.
Here are some pictures of the rig!
