Description: This is our 2021 Grandby Flatbed camper with the Norweld flatbed tray. This is the 8ft bed or long bed model and the biggest offered by FWC. We have made some slight modifications to the interior to make it more livable and essentially chose every single upgrade option that FWC has when we ordered the camper. Below is the major list of what this camper has to offer:

* 2 way refrigerator/Freezer, 130 Liters, 1.7 CU Feet with cooling Fan
* Front plate made for fridge to allow for use of magnets
* Custom storage solutions made for each of the interior dinette seating storage

Known Problems: The front vent opening mechanism broke so now the vent can’t be opened, but FWC has ordered us the replacement parts and we will install as soon as they arrive. The filler cap for the water tank in the flatbed was lost and we will not have a new one until around 7/15/2021. There are very light scratches on the camper from branches on a couple trails we went on, however they are entirely cosmetic (no structural damage).

Reason for Selling: My wife and I have been living in the camper since we took delivery of it in January 2021. Since then we have decided that we want something hardside for full-time living and therefore are ready to part ways with the camper. If you’re looking at an FWC this is a great opportunity to skip the line and get into a very lightly used camper that is ready to roll! I have contacted FWC in Woodland, CA and they will be able to install this setup on the new owner’s truck.

We aren’t entirely sure yet what the next thing will look like but our current vision isn’t really an upgrade haha just something totally different. After getting some time on the road with this setup and learning what traveling looks like for us we are looking at making the truck more of a “weekend warrior” type setup with a more primitive camp setup and then buying some cheap small camper trailer and pulling that around so that we can still ditch the trailer and go explore for weeks but will also have the capability to setup a more permanent camp on friend’s properties and retain the capability to have a “daily driver” if the truck can be considered that haha but really time will tell exactly what the next setup looks like

Yes there is, we didn’t buy the jacks because we intended to keep the camper on full-time but similar to a slide in camper it can be raised off the bed with jacks on the four corners. The main difference is that the camper is bolted through the flatbed to the frame instead of using turnbuckles.

Why are you selling the camper and norweld tray separated from the truck instead of offering it as a package? Would you offer as a package? I wrote this before seeing your post today, but still have the question. FWC camper in Woodland says it is about $2200 to remove the camper and tray and reinstall and there is a 2-3 month lead time, costs assuming the brackets are compatible.

I thought the bed with the Grandby was bigger than a double. FWC bed in the Grandby is 77x72 with the pull out. Did you remove the pull out and can it be reinstalled? Do you have the cushions to make the larger bed? What is the current mattress size?

Which cassette toilet? Is the cassette accessible to remove and dump from the exterior? I can't tell from the photos.

What brand forced air furnace, runs on propane or diesel? Same questions for hot water heater.

Smoke/CO2/Propane alarm in camper?

What mods have you made to the interior to make it more livable? Can you describe more fully?

Is the electrical system set up so the batteries can be charged when the truck is running?

What is the total length of the camper and truck combo ( with your current truck).

Have you also contacted FWC for costs and time to remove the camper and tray?

Hey! Thanks for your interest! I’ve gone ahead and answered your questions below in the order you wrote them out:

1. Currently I am selling the camper and flatbed separately for a couple of reasons; right now it is looking like our future plans might require a diesel truck for towing and since we have invested a lot of money into this truck it is looking like I wouldn’t be able to get all my money back from the truck where as the camper and flatbed are still holding their value, and also because we have an appointment July 1st to have dynatrac ball joints installed, a new tie rod installed, and an alignment so until that all happens I figured I would only leave the ad for camper and flatbed. I would certainly consider selling the package deal for the right price but if I’m going to lose too much money on the truck it is just in my better interest to keep it.

2. The “king bed slideout” is an upgrade option from FWC and we did actually order it when we ordered the camper, but quickly realized that we didn’t need the extra space and carrying around 4 extra cushions while living in the camper full time just didn’t make sense. That being said, everything is still in place for the slideout and could be replaced for the cost of a sheet of plywood.

3. The cassette toilet is the Dometic CTS or CTW series (not certain which one since the brochure we have is for all the models and the toilet doesn’t say). The cassette is removeable from the exterior just to the right of the camper door. We have only ever peed in it on occasions when “stealth camping” on the streets and never put additives in it so that we could just dump it whenever we were out camping off the grid, but it has wheels and a handles so would be easy to dump at an RV facility.

4. The furnace is the Dometic DF series and runs on propane and I believe the fan in it runs on electric.

5. The water heater is the Dometic L.P. Gas water heater and runs on propane. We have only used it once when we were testing it to make sure it worked.

6. The camper has a smoke/fire alarm and the CO/propane alarm as well.

7. The mods we have made to the interior are adding compartments to the big dinette seating storage areas to make them more useable which is especially helpful on the pantry side, we have added a small storage piece under the bed but it is nothing fancy, we added the punch storage to the front of the kitchen cabinets, we added the small mail box trash can for daily use so we aren’t constantly walking out to the trasharoo, and we added mason jar storage behind the dinette seats (this can be easily removed if mason jars aren’t your thing). Another couple items that aren’t necessarily additions to the interior but do make it more liveable. Those are the back up camera added to the rear storage rack, a big bungee that wraps the exterior of the canvas so it never gets stuck out when lowering the top, and the additional portable solar panel that can be used to get a changes when parking the truck in the shade.

9. The electrical system is setup to be charged off the truck as well as the solar panels on the roof and/or the additional portable panel.

10. Give or take a few inches the camper is roughly 22.5 ft from the front bumper to the spare tire on the rear

11. When I contacted FWC I did ask for the pricing and timing rather I was just making sure that it was something they would even be able to do before I offered it on the ad.

12. Attached is a picture of the cost/specs for the camper and flatbed. Please keep in mind that I am willing to work on the price with any potential buyer especially taking into consideration the actual costs for FWC to transfer the camper/bed if that is what happens. Additionally my current asking price reflects a premium for a high demand item, but as stated above I will work with a buyer on price if they are serious.

For anyone who is interested I did confirm with FWC that the cost would be $2200 to transfer the camper and the flatbed as well as prep the new owner’s truck. I also confirmed that they are 2-3 months out. I have also gotten in touch with Poptop Overland down in San Diego and they would likely be able to do the swap sooner than FWC so we can shorten that lead time.

Given the higher cost to transfer than I initially anticipated I can certainly work with any potential buyer to make sure we are both getting the right deal.

A quick update, the camper has been removed from my truck and is still up for sale. The roof has been covered for the purpose of protecting and keeping it clean; there are no leaks.

Sorry I am not a buyer, but I do have a question:

Was your F250 originally an 8' long bed? The proportions look almost the same as my 6.5', and I am wondering if the 8' norwood tray can ONLY be put on a truck with 8' bed or if it could also go on a truck that originally had the 6.5' bed.

My truck is the 8’ long bed model so this 8’ Norweld tray would only work for the long bed as far as I understand, however Norweld does make a short bed model that has smaller front boxes but I believe the rear boxes stay the same.
