Small Mercury Outboard. 4.5 hp short shaft. It's real clean, a good runner and these small mercs have a great reputation. Perfect for inflatable boat, small boat like a portabot or square back canoe because it's light and can be carried with one hand. This thing pulls really hard for its size. $400.

I should have those good old Evinrudes in 6 hp and 3 for around the same money real soon if they prove Expo worthy.

Arguably the single best outboard ever produced were the 6hp Johnson and Evinrudes from the late 60's to late 80's. They are bulletproof, always start, are twin cylinder smooth and even beat to death models still run great. This one is really clean except for the typical sun fading and scratches on the cowl. It's been all gone thru and tuned. I know this is not the site for outboards but this is my favorite site and I'd love to see an explorer own a great way to visit the other 2/3 of the planet.
