Well, the 8.1 'burb disappeared off of CL in a space of a few hours so I guess I snoozed and losed. :sombrero:
.
Not to worry, though: Last night I drove home in a 2004 Suburban 1500 LT with 136k on the clock, a one-owner beauty in "Expedition White" no less! Sitting in the driveway now getting snowed on because I'm going to have to reconfigure the garage to get this behemoth in there! I'll post a thread later on with pics.

I bet you are enjoying it in the snow today :sombrero:

Be sure to start a thread about it, i love seeing what people do with their Burb's

Actually just went a few blocks away to check on a neighbor. Tried out both 4wd and the "auto 4wd" features. Both worked great even with the relatively street-oriented tires it has on it now.
.
I think I'm going to like it.

Soooo, Martin, will you not be able to do any more DE's? I hope you can, Merry Christmas!! Michael

It's really going to depend on the timing. Our first camping trip is in early April and our last one is currently in mid September. The good news is that my new truck would actually require very minimal prep. Hell, I wouldn't even need a sleeping platform, the cargo compartment is more than 8' long with the seats folded down. Almost an embarrassment of space, in fact.

Martin I say go for the 8.1. Putting fuel into your rig is a lot cheaper than maintenance or upgrades. Just buy a little beater import for your daily driver and drive the Burb for expo and fun...:)
