Some new tools...

Brought home some new tools from school today.

A few Hassy's...a 500c/m and a 501cm. One has a 50, one has an 80. I've shot with the Hassy digital system for a few years...but ironically have never really even touched a classic 'Blad. Here's my chance.

I also brought home a Speedo pack and 3 heads. I'll shoot my next little job from JKS with it. You Jeep guys might get a kick out of the next set of widgets you can buy. ;)

Consider this a viral marketing campaign. :D

You're a riot.

I just broke my driver's side JKS quick disconnect last weekend. Send me the camera, I'll take a shot of it for you. :)

Call Jim. Tell him it was poor manufacturing and to send you a new one.

I've got a set of ACOS bump-shocks in my studio sitting on the floor for over a year. Trying to figure out how to modify it to fit my 80-inch Land Rover. Might be looking for some used Jeep springs soon... The ACOS parts are sitting next to the J-spec shocks. Yeah, I'm lazy/busy. :D

We're heading down to Lake Powell for a week on a houseboat. I'm looking forward to shooting some B&W portraits in some nice open shade with those lenses wide-open.

The school has about 10 of them sitting in mothballs. :( I can't bear the thought, so I'm going to be shooting a lot of film over the next year. They have a stable of 4x5's, an 8x10, 11x14 and an 8x20. I'm hanging up the digital camera for a while I think...except for the 'paying' work. ;)

Any pitfalls I should look out for?

Not that I can think of. That's what makes the 500 series such a remarkably reliable camera.

My own personal biggest pitfall is trying to take a picture while the film blade thing is still in, having that momentary rush of adrenaline thinking my camera is broken. If my assistant is there it never happens, if I'm shooting on my own it happens all the time.

Crap, I'm in trouble then. :D

School Selling? Load the film holders with Ilford photo paper, take you photo, develop with film developer(not paper developer) contact print and stand back as you won't believe the details that will emerge.

No, sorry the school isn't selling the 11x14. Paper negatives are a great way to 'expose' yourself to large format and ultra-large format. Films are just so expensive, I'll teach them how to use the camera with paper then switch to film.

We might be selling some of the Hassy's if you're interested.
