We are doing it tough here not much selection to the point that it is going to become a political issue.

To telling you the truth, they are not my type of "expedition vehicle"
After having a motorhome (Mazda T3500) I came back to the idea of a simple and practical vehicle which I or my wife can manage in a remote area.
Nevertheless they are nice to look at them
I like more the MaxiMog type but without the "mother of all trailers"
Cheers

Bolton's vehicle

Also from Warrior is this model, called the Scout

This appears to be a copy of the vehicle Warrior built for Kym Bolton.
He used it on an epic 4 month journey across Russia and Mongolia
earlier this year. The vehicle now rests in England, waiting for the
drive south to Capetown!

Does anyone know how Warrior handles flex on these Fuso-based rigs? I wonder how do they mount the camper body to the truck? From the photos of the grey vehicle shown it appears to be a rigid mount with a large pass thru.

In theory they seem like a large Sportsmobile (but with better payload, motor, and international support). Thoughts?

Some mean looking rigs. Very cool looking. Dunno if I'd hit too difficult of a trail with one though.

The Warriors that extend the fiberglass camper to a cap above the truck cab have to have the camper bolted to the truck frame. A torque-free mount would result in too much movement of the camper, breaking the connection between camper and truck cab.

The smaller Scout model could have a torque-free mount, but Kym Bolton told me that his camper is bolted directly to the truck's frame.

I do have to say I would look good in the non Logan's Run model. That door in the cab on the driver's side would drive me nuts though.

This picture suggests the suspension is greatly enhanced to compensate for a frame made rigid.
These guys are my heroes. I'm tempted to fly over just to see them in person.

Warrior stole it

A couple of posts back in this thread I remarked that the Warrior Scout model looked a lot like the camper that Kym Bolton designed. I wrote to Kym, and he confirmed that the photo on the Warrior web site is of the camper he hired Warrior to build for him.

Since Kym has plans to sell replicas of his camper design, he is not happy that Warrior is selling an identical product, and using a photo of Kym's truck to advertise it! Hopefully this can be straightened out to everyone's satisfaction.

In the meantime, I think Warrior should not be on anyone's list of "heroes."

First of all, the heroes comment . . . just expressing my admiration for a beautiful Mitsubishi Expedition Camper - this forum right?

I hear you on the photos. But unless Mr Bolton designed the camper himself or paid for the rights to the design or the intellectual property, then he has no rights to the design - at least that is how it works in the US. If he actually detailed the design then that's a different story.

I manage an engineer dept, and we frequently take money (NRE) to build custom products for customers. Unless the customers specifically pay for the tooling and the sole rights to the customization design, we later offer this customization to all our customers as an standard option. This is how we keep development costs down while offering more options to our customers.

I'm sure AT Warrior is leveraging this custom design in the same way, and in the end will benefit to others like Bolton. Anyhow, that's my $.02.
