Maybe a stupid question, but are the components for the parking brake the same as an electric brake? I have been to a few local trailer places looking for a replacement axle and when asking about a parking brake no one has known what I was talking about. I explained the seemingly simple concept of a handle and brake cables to them, but then I'm not sure what components exist inside the drums. Is it basic brake shoes and springs? Thanks!
No... The parking brake and the electric brakes are different. The electric brakes use a magnet to apply the brakes. The parking brake uses a cable. Not sure how the cable actuates the brake shoes, but I know they are two distinct forces to apply stopping to the hub. I'll know more in a week when I get mine. :wings: I had the same problem with some of the local places and ended up using RedNeck for that reason.
