Hey guys, new to the expedition portal but stoked to be here!
Really new to the overlanding community and everything about it.. i am active duty coast guard aviation and i just recently got cut orders to move out west!
So i decided to make my travels a whole lot more interesting by throwing a CVT Mt.Shasta onto my F150 Ecoboost 4x4... i am originally from south carolina and i have never traveled west of Tennessee.. i know... but anyways my trip is about 2 weeks out and im looking to make it a good one.. ive decided on taking a "northern" route going through Nashville.. then towards Colorado and and then south hitting the grand canyon and then up to SanFrancisco. So with that being said if anyone has some good advice, tips, and spots i should look into stopping at i would love to talk!

I am very into Photography and Cinematography.. ill be bringing along my Canon70D, some gopros and My DJI phantom... so photography spots are welcomed!

Well, welcome to the fun. You could spend months traveling around CO and UT getting pictures and off roading. You might as well hit the Tetons in WY as well, Sand hills in Nebraska. Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods in UT, Moab, etc. I suppose we will wait to see the photos.

Check out my thread here that is active. I cut some great tracks though Arizona, North Rim, southern Utah.

Thanks for your service. If I can help, message me.

Hi, Thomas! Sounds like you are prepping for a great cross-country adventure. My last duty station was here in Colorado, NORAD-USNORTHCOM and I worked with a great CG aviation officer who's now in Oregon.
Anyway, check out my new post-retirement adventure, trailsoffroad.com; we're building "boots on the ground" trail guides across North America; presently over 950 completed/published, all current with tracks, photos and videos from the actual trail. Site registration is free and it will allow you to view full details on each trail guides we've done, from Alaska to New Brunswick, Canada. We're only in 19 states and 2 provinces of Canada, so we have a long way to go. Good for you though, we are pretty strong in California--over 200 trails done there alone.

Based on your timing and itinerary, it may not work out but myself and a couple of other guys will be in the Ouray/Telluride area from July 23rd to the 26th making tracks and photos/video for trailsoffroad guides. Feel free to "drop in" if you like. -Tracy cell 785-313-6454
