We're back from our three weeks in southern Nevada - we had an interesting trip, working contract for a consortium of land agencies to do field inventories of transportation routes. It was gorgeous and cold - I'm so glad to be back in the "tropical" desert!

Here are the details and instructions for our Tread Trainer course.

When: Saturday, December 29 - arrive by 9 am, course starts at 10.

Where: Ravenrock, our hideaway in the Sonoran Desert. Confirmed participants will receive map and GPS coordinates.

What to bring: Plan for a camping trip, we have a campsite near our main housesite for about 6 vehicles, plus a firering and a flush toilet. Dispersed camping nearby on the property.
- Bring your own food but we'll have a big fire for anyone who wants to grill.
- Bring your own water - we have a limited supply. Plus a skunk fell into it and died about 2 months ago.
- It could be chilly so plan for that. We'll have the class outside, if weather's bad we'll have a tent.

What to expect: The course will be discussion and maybe a little handson but mostly "classroom" for the day. Materials provided, but bring notebook and pens. Break up at 4:30-5 and head for the campfire.

On Sunday those who can join us we'll head out south of us for a nice trail run - maybe to Arivaca over the Cerro Colorados, have coffee at the Gadsden Coffee Company. Or maybe down to the Buenos Aires NWR.

What to do next: Email me your full contact information for Tread Lightly. Name, Organization if applicable, mailing address, phone and email. This is required, as you will be a Tread Lightly Trainer and will need to be in touch with the organization.

Email me through the Portal (no PMs please) or roseann at jandrhanson dot com

Kids and dogs welcome!

Lots of beautiful country to explore during the training day - we have some animal tracking kits for the kids to have fun with, and lots of tracks.

Hey guys (and gals), it was great to see so many people show interest in this training, and it was great to meet some new, like minded folks, as well as see some old friends.

Sorry I had to bug out early yesterday, I wasn't feeling well. And of course, I still wasn't feeling well this morning, so I skipped the trail ride as well. I did feel a little better as the day went on, so I hopped on the bike and took a ride (down the freeway) down to Gadsden Coffee to see if I could meet up with everyone for lunch. I hung out there for a couple hours hoping you would show up. I gave up hope just before 2pm, and took the western route home. That is always a nice ride. I hope all went well with the trail run, and I hope you made it down to Gadsden for lunch....it's a really cool place!

So, thanks again for everyone who made this a success!

:)

Brian,

We were sorry to miss you today - we had to make a last-minute decision to switch to a very fun drive up Stephens Mountain to the Providencia mine, and then a shorter way back. Folks had to get on the road, and Arivaca was too far away.

We all had a wonderful time at the training - fifteen new Tread Trainers - what a great forum this is, with so many really special people, committed to overlanding and conservation, and willing to do more for their communities, too.

We'll post up pictures soon, but personally I'm waiting for the Hunter Dan shots. Jeffry?

I'll have some up in a minute of the group and some of the drive.

Thanks again to everyone who came down, and for a really fun camp, too.

Thanks everybody, there was one casualty. Poor hunter Dan - he shouldn't of drunk the Bud Light.

Great time as always, thanks.
