Southwest Adventure to Gold Butte, Grand Staircase, and Valley of Fire - Oct 2021

I was able to do a quick 6-day trip from Orange County, CA to Utah last week with side trips to Gold Butte National Monument and Valley of Fire State Park. I headed out on Oct 1 and spent the night in Whitney Pocket, NV.

I unhooked the bike the next day and did a loop to Little Finland (bucket list item of mine for 5 years), Seven Keyholes, and Devil’s Throat. The first two did not disappoint, but the “throat” was nothing special in my opinion.

I left Nevada and headed to Grand Staircase-Escalante NM on Saturday, Oct 2. I met my dad and we spruced up my parents’ property for his Jeep friends, who were coming in on Sunday. Man, I love this place!

The next day included a ride down Hole in the Rock Road and some hiking in some slot canyons.

The next day rained all day but it didn’t stop us from completing an 8 mile cross country hike to the Cosmic Ashtray.

On the last day, I headed to the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada before heading home to CA. It was awesome!
