I've just put an AM/FM radio and speakers in my 404. Basic Pioneer DEH-1950 radio and TS-G1011R 4 inch speakers. Built a small console mounted to the back of the cab between the seats with the speakers facing up towards the screen. Could also have angled them towards the seats. Works well enough considering the other orchestral sounds that the radio is competing with.

Thanks for the info guys, next question, is there really a difference between car audio speakers and running a home-indoor outdoor type in a vehicle. Voltage? Anyone?

An audiophile would want to match the ohms of the speaker to the output of the amp, usually 4 or 8 ohm. But if your tunes are competing with a diesel Mog motor, you certainly won't notice the difference.

OK, thanks guys-It seems that the portal has the same engineers floating around as the moglist. So after being confused with information-basically you can run home speakers with no problems if not running a amp. If running a amp is in the future-stay away from them-am I correct?

Home speakers are generally 8 ohm loads.

Putting too many 8 ohm speakers on an amp can kill the amp if it wasn't designed for it. Most auto amps were made with auto speakers in mind, which are generally 4ohm.

You will find that a GOOD set of Kicker 4ohm auto speakers are cheaper than the equivelant 8ohm home speaker.

The amp will complain less, and you'll get louder music with less power.

Kicker 6.5" speakers, pefect for door or dash mounting, 2-Way Mid Bass and Tweeter combo. $29.95

Kicker Amplifier ZX200.2 , perfect for running 100 watts per channel on those two 6.5" speakers.

If you prefer a little more bass than trebel, but would like a comfy level of each, try the Kicker 6x9's, use the same amp with these, and you can not go wrong.
