I have to show that video to my wife.

She looked at my like I was crazy earlier this week when I said my lottery truck was probably a 4x4 sprinter!!

Of course the next day it was a Raptor, followed by Fuso FG, a land cruiser,...

Mine was built about 10 days ago, now making it's way to 'merica. I should see it in another 45 to 50 days.

Short wheel base available?
The truly stumpy short wheelbase 118" ended in North American when they replaced the T1N version with the swoppy NCV3 in 2007, and which you still get today. Today's short is yesterday's medium, yesterday's large is shorter than today's medium.

T1N: 118" wheelbase/16.0 feet LOA . . . 140" wheelbase/18.6 feet LOA . . . 158 wheelbase/21.6 feet LOA

NCV3: 144" wheelbase/19.5 feet LOA . . . 170" wheelbase/22.8 feet LOA . . . 170" wheelbase extended/24.2 feet LOA

As best I know, both the 4WD and 4WD with transfer case are available options on all the North American versions. But the 4 cylinder diesel with 7 speed tranny can't have 4WD; you have to have the V6 with the 5 speed auto.

I see lots of cab/chassis around here with truck bodies but I think we are a year away from seeing 4wd flatbeds. I am guessing there will be a long backlog of 4WD van orders to fill. :coffee:

Mike can you get it as a flatbed?

You can readily get a cab-chassis unit and then have your local shop put the flatbed on. Or a service body, or a dry box, or whatever.

And though you didn't ask, if someone wanted to put a cabin onto a Sprinter, it'd be a relatively straightforward task . . . the back wall of the cab-chassis is big and flat and unlike Japanese low-cab-forward trucks (and especially the Fuso FG, with the bent frame), there's nothing in the way. Straight frame rails and no trick to body mounting. There are still disappointments with articulation and limits to tire size mounted, not to mention very limited aftermarket support, but I would think that the 4x4 Sprinter nonetheless ought to be under consideration as a competitor to the FG or a conventional cab-chassis. The Sprinter's bumper-to-back-of-cab measurement is short enough that you could fit a very spacious cabin on a vehicle that was still under 20 feet in length.

The V6 still does well MPG wise, we have a flat bed one at work. Its a nice truck, I think 4x4 with a camper on it would be most excellent for mild off road.

I looked at the U.S. Sprinter site and it doesn't look like you can build a 4x4 cab and chassis at this time.

Also, we can't get the 2500 cab and chassis in the US which is a bummer.

Well, crap. Our friend is right; no 4x4 chassis cab yet. In my defense, this contradicts information given me during the announcement period, when I was told by a dealer it was expected to be available for all variants. Unreliable information about a forthcoming Sprinter 4x4!? Yeah, like that could happen. (Inside joke; 4x4 Sprinter rumors started circa 2005.)

And one could, if he or she wanted, cling to hope based on the fact that the 2015 Special Equipment book does not have any "Not available on Cab-Chassis" restriction associated with the option, while it does mention the V-6 only requirement.
