Stateside lads, where do you buy parts?

Which carbs are you running? Su or Stromburg? by vacuum guide do you mean a balancer or do you need the specs? I have the early range rover factory manual. I can look up anything you want, or I can scan a page or two for you as well.

No idea. How can I tell?

The specs. Several of the vacuum hoses are disconnected or plugged. I'm hoping that this, plus new carbs will free up some of the missing grunt.

Just here...

If I remember correctly he is running the stock Strombergs (cant find the pictures you sent). Having spent a lot of time messing with them on my MGs and Triumphs, they are decent carbs and just about everything is available for them through Moss Motors (kits, shafts, throttle plates, etc...). Since the Strombergs have a 4 bolt square flange, you can swap out to a pair of SUs (my favorite carb, hands down) in the HD8 guise. That will give you more than enough fueling ability for a 3.5. The other option is to find an old Offy intake or a new Edelbrock that will allow you to use an American 4 barrel carb like a Holley 350 cfm or something only slightly bigger. Its a small motor so you dont need the typical 600+ cfm carb.

I also need a full interior carpet kit, headliner, door cards, front seats, and a dash would be great if you had one.

Ive been looking for the same stuff and have come up empty. I even dropped a note to Exmoor and didnt come up with much. I dont think that there is an interior "kit." I also called Newton Commercial, who does most of the British classic interior bits and whose quality is top notch and they offer nothing and had no ideas as to where to begin. Headliner can be done by any interior shop. You can make carpet yourself pretty easily. There are many companies out there that sell bulk automotive interior carpet in any color and pile you want in large pieces. You trim and fit it yourself. Did it with an MGB once just for fun. Bought some black, thick pile with a nice backing and did the cutting and fitting myself. Turned out very nice and looked better than most carpet kits out there. It took a little time though. The dash will have to be a used item more than likely and the cards you can make yourself with some work. These arent that easy but you can do it. You can get card material, 1/8" or so thick composite, from Home Depot, vinyl in any color and grain from interior suppliers and door clips from a lot of different places. The hardest part is the matching up of the holes so things on the door will go through smoothly and be centered. Thats the hardest part but can be done with some time.

Missed this earlier, I will head out to the garage in the am and see if I can find some good pics for you. As Viggen said, the door cards, carpet, and headliner, can be done by a you or an auto interiors shop, mine were done by somebody for the previous owner, and looked amazing. (that is before i got a hold of it.)

I don't think the 3.5 ever came with any extra grunt.:D You might try swapping in a newer longblock (3.9, 4.2, etc.). Since you have a carbureted engine, you will have an easier time with a swap than the rest of us rangie owners. You might try PTSchram, on DWeb or Pirate, for parts if your other sources fail, he has a little bit of everything...
I've been eyeing your 2dr for a coupla months now, I wish I had the time and patience to take that project on. You should really find a way to keep it, you'll regret selling a rare vehicle like that.

I've been using UK based suppliers more and more for my Defender. I've been using LRSeries.com a great deal and their service is exceptional.

Ha! So that's what both of my mechanics have told me.

The more and more I think about it, I don't want to sell. I've set a price which I feel is very fair, but also, hardly a give away. This way, if it sells, it sells. If it doesn't I keep it. My only problem is that I'm in the midst of a 4.6 conversion in a 95 Classic, a motor swap on a 1995 BMW 525iT, a kitchen remodel, work, and school.

The LAST thing I have time for is another project, even if I have fallen for her...

It's odd, but from all of my searching the the LRM magazines, I've found endless an endless supply of parts for the Series and D90's, but not for the Range Rover. You'd think that a 25 year build cycle would have evolved to a substantial parts supply...

4drs are a dime a dozen, your 2dr is only the second one I've seen for sale in the past 4yrs... Heh heh, gut that 95 and build the 2dr right! Just think, you will never have to worry about the power seats, locks, windows, etc. not working. ABS? No longer a problem! VC? It doesn't have one! What does it feel like to crank up a Rangie and not see a dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree? Damn, I think I'm talking myself into buying this thing from you.

I buy from Lucky8 in the US as Justin's prices are competitive with UK suppliers and selection is similar. When i need a specialized part that Justin can't supply or is not competitive on, i use Turner Engineering in the UK as Richard and Frida provide exceptional service and technical advice.
