That thing looks like it is about ready to collapse under its own weight let alone when the rain is pouring down on it.
sorry but Major Fail!!
lol its fine. the awning will hold itself up without a problem. i have no doubts of that.
really...no doubt?
sorry but add 30-lbs of water on top and the thing is going to parallelogram and the PVC pieces at the corner will snap and thats all she wrote.
some corner stakes may prevent that part of the failure.
the other issue come when it fills with water and just starts to seep thru and drip.
Most anyone that has used that material as a tarp will know where I am coming from on that.
Really?
I just paged through and didnt see any I thought were more flimsy then yours.
atleast add some triangles for strength in the form of ropes and stakes, without them that thing goes to pieces in the first wind or rain storm.
While I do agree with adding the ability to tie it down with ropes staked into the ground as an option if you plan on leaving it out for an extended period of time.... I don't really get why he needs to built it to withstand a hurricane. I certainly wouldn't be under it if the weather got as bad as you're trying to prepare him for.
The fact that it's well designed and constructed.
However, it won't hold up in a strong wind either. I don't think that's the intent of these things. They're for convenient shelter from the sun and light rain. Not hurricane Katrina.
