What size tablet can you fit on the right side. iPad mini or full size ipad?

What is the device with the mini ball mount?

Full size, but ProClip makes them for the Mini too.

The ball was where I put my inreach. I used it for GPS. With the advent of Apple SOS and the fact that we carry a PLB, I ordered a Dual GPS receiver and sold the inreach. No Subscription for Dual.

The original camera works in reverse, but we didn't have great rear vis while driving. The camper came with an upper camera, that hadn't been hooked up. We finally got around to installing the matching "mirror." I would have preferred a full view, but this is what matched the installed camera. It's WAY better than nothing.

I hadn’t thought about losing the rear visibility, how does that system work, is it something Hallmark can do, or is it something we have to figure out?
Great tip on those hood chargers, will def get some!

Matt installed the upper camera and then I had a local RV shop wire the “mirror.” Matt could do it all though. We didn’t do it at the outset, because we thought we might use the upper cam in reverse. Our build was tight too because of the deadline to get it to OE.

I did a great class with Backwood 4WD Training on Whidbey Island. It was mostly about extraction, but we had to see if the Stormtrooper could survive the moguls. It was the only big rig there.


Looks like the setup took that course VERY well.

None of us, including the trainers were sure what to expect. It has a nice suspension, but we kept the front and rear sway bars and it’s 10,000 pounds loaded. I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it handled it. That was with the locker engaged. In 4L, the stabilization is disengaged. It got stuck on the first pass without it. It lifted right out with it. That thing is like magic though every time I’ve had to use it.

They do surprisingly well for their heft. The suspension cycles surprisingly well with 2 sway bars.

Looks like you're running the factory running boards and they may have dragged a little. My buddies call them glamor steps. Every time I drag them somebody yells "not the glamor steps!"

I raised mine with F-150 brackets. It gets them higher but it's a big step in the truck.

Trail Tough is right in my back yard. They’ve got me measured up for sliders. I’m just not sure how often I’ll put a vehicle that big into situations like that. I figured that what I’d replace them with rock sliders if I bent them. If nothing else they look cooler. 😜

Great looking setup. Whenever I think about a similar setup I can’t decide if I should do the short wheelbase for maneuverability or the super long wheelbase for the 50+ gallon fuel tank.

Right now I’m in a double cab long box Chevy and the turning radius is comically bad.

Yes that's a hard decision for sure. Luckily you can get both now with the aftermarket. But it is an added expense. I'd take the shorter wheelbase and maneuverability however. And supplement with aftermarket. JMHO

I think that really depends on how you’ll use it. My vote was for agility, to carry a little extra fuel, and not to get into situations where it would be an issue. I didn’t want the length, but more importantly, fuel is heavy. With the smaller tank I have roughly a 300 mile range. I carry 4 extra gallons, extending me 40 miles conservatively, maybe not even that far if it was really rough and steep.

@eyemgh What kind of turnaround time did TT give you for fabrication and installation?


I like the work that went into the sliders on this F350 SCSB build. Scroll through the photos you can see the custom work done by Dark Horse in Bozeman. Even did work under the bed and at the rear.
