I slipped off the road and ended up in some real deep muck...lucky for me it was only about 15mins before somebody came by and pulled me out.

is that altimeter/clinometer patrol OEM? or can i buy that somewhere?

It is an OEM Patrol item....but I bought this one on Ebay. You should be able to find one on there, they show up fairly often. Toyota had them too, iirc I have seen them for the 1st gen of 4-Runner. But the 4-Runner one mounts to the top of the dash. They also have a back light.

Just keep a good eye on Ebay and search "Patrol" "4-Runner" or even "clinometer".

They are pretty easy to find in New Zealand on TradeMe.com because lots of Japanese imports have them and well NZ got lots of imports. But TradeMe doesn't allows us yanks to buy on there anymore.

ok cool, thanks for the info RMP&O.

well here are some stuck pictures. this isnt my vehicle but i was involved in the recovery. this is what happens when someone who knows nothing about offroading is given a 4wd for his Birthday. guy went fishing and basically drove out into the bay during low tide lol. i had to call a friend with a specialized rig to get him out. the kid in the blazer is my coworkers cousin.

there are 37inch tires under there somewhere lol

hard to see but there are a few fiddler crabs crawling around on his front tire lol

this the truck that finally got him out. Nissan hard body with a stretched frame, and a Chevy 1 ton drive train. V8, 4L80, and a massive PTO winch on the back with a whole lot of cable. and my favorite part is the built in wheel chocks lol.

First thing I learned wheeling down there... NEVER drive through the tall grass.

lol yea thats the first rule of offroading i was taught down here. i was told, if your wheeling on the texas coast, fear the grass, especially the tall grass. 2nd rule was always know the tide patterns. ive seen 2 trucks park too close to the water and end up with only the roof showing the next morning lol.

To any one that asks why not just put it in 4WD? Well he had 4WD but the front dif was shot and so he only had 2WD. Somehow he made it through the most difficult trail, even people with 4WD and lockers were having difficulty. :Wow1: Never though you could do such difficult trails with only 2WD. But with a good driver and spotter and with the help of a lead foot anything is possible. :smiley_drive: The funny thing is he made it through everything only to get stuck on a tiny bolder....
