My BFGs were officially done (below 5/32nds) at 14,000 miles.
New Cooper STTs 295/70-17 on there now. Not as cheap as Stumpy's, but not bad.
And these tires hook up offroad. It was nice over the weekend with them.

Stump --- are you busy Saturday? We need to go out and mark some different camping areas on you GPS...

I cant see your photo till I get home, but im sure it looks awesome. I knew you couldnt stand it too much longer. I wish I could go out and scout some stuff with you, but the wife, kid and I are heading out Friday morning for a quick 'camping' trip to Stone Mountain. If you can call it camping. Itll still be fun though...We get back on Sunday. Weekend after that I am out of town, weekend after that I am camping at a boat race in South Georgia. Weekend after that (nov11, 12, 13)... may be up for something. :)

WHAT?!?!?!?!?! :Wow1: You had the BFG AT/ko on there, right? Those lasted on my WJ and previously on my Land Rover for 65,000 +++ miles.

Bill was just tired of the sissy All Terrains. He wanted STT's ever since he got the truck...

Ok, I checked out the picture of your truck on my smart phone. Now it looks a proper truck. Nice!

The OE ATs were NOT the same as ATs that you'd buy; they were an OE-spec tire, less tread, and the tread was softer.
They were designed to wear out fast and they did that very very well.

The STTs bite so much better. Except for actually having to pay for them, I'm pretty happy to have them.

Stone Mountain, Stump? Really?

I was going to say-
I have known folks to have BFG AT's last 70-80K miles.
I have recently been told by the same person- that he gets better mileage, and better performance however, out of his BFG MT KM2's.
They provide less resistance going down the road- my guess. He prefers driving his D110 with the MT's over the AT's, but his wife's Range Rover P38 gets ridiculous miles out of the AT's.

I'm not a fan of KM2s either... ...especially on light vehicles.

That's another story though.

I've just had my best success over the years with Goodyear and Cooper products. Cooper makes so many of the boutique 4-wheeling tires anyhow; why not just go to the source and get them?

Yes, Stone Mountain.

I know, its lame. But hey, atleast we are going somewhere... they lake is pretty darn nice there though. And its 10 minutes from my house. When my wife suggests camping for the weekend, I tend to oblige - regardless of location.

I know you're hard-core, Stump...

Let's fast forward. What do you have going on around Christmas? I gotta think seriously about sliders.
I think I mentioned to you about a guy fabbing some Mopar clones in Wisconsin ---- they're just not so easy to mount. No welding but lots of drilling.

I think I have the whole week off between Xmas and New Years. Uncompensated, of course...

I HATED my MTRs. Those were the worst tire I have ever used. Im currently running the nitto trail grappler. Pretty good tire, at least for my Jeep they are.

What didn't you like about the MTRs? I've heard people disappointed in the tire as a mud tire (As expected) but I've never heard them referred to as a terrible tire over all.

The worst ever tire I've encountered is the Truxus. I've got two pounds of BBs and Centramatic balancers on them and the bitches are still half a pound out of balance. Every time you spin them up the amount of weight required changes. Horrid, horrid tires. So bad that this past weekend I didn't bother mounting them and just used my pavement pounders.

I guess now they are practically brand new tires used for rolling shop projects around. :(

Such a shame... actually decently quiet at hwy speeds.

I'll never buy another Interco product.

Did you try the MTR/kevlar?
Different breed entirely.

Yeah those were the ones I had. They have a really poor service description, I think 111, less than my stock BFGs. I think the 35x1250x17 were not up to the task for a daily driver, weekend riding vehicle. They would sway, shake, shimmy, vibrate, bounce, etc etc. I hated driving my jeep because of them. My Load E nitto tires I love. They take no weight to balance. I chunked the hell out of one of them and they still ride a 1000 times better than my MTRs.

We had the old MTRs on a work truck, a Power Wagon, in fact. Slid all over in the rain and even worse in the snow without chains. In mud or with chains, not bad.
The MTR/kevlars were wonderful on wet pavement or rock. Pretty good in mud, very decent in snow.

The KM2s were only good in mud or dry rock.

Couldnt have said it better myself. Interco Truxus bring the suck.

I should get laid off around the end of November since the job is finally coming to an end, and I suspect I wont have anything going job wise until the middle to end of January. I would think we could get em done in that time. We are going to Orangeburg SC for Christmas, but it will only be for a few days right at the holiday as far as I know.
