Suspension quandry

Which type of suspension setup would/do you use on your leaf sprung Cruiser?

Option A or Option B?

The springs are on the way already, I just don't know if I should also go reversal with longer rear shackles or not.

Thanks,

My Vote.

:)

I went with the med/heavy combo using stock shackle locations. I can't comment on ride quality as I'm still working my way thru the truck's other issues & have yet to drive it more than 100' I can say that it is very stink-bug and that I'm not liking that. Eventually I plan to do some sort of coil sprung front suspension, so I'll live with these springs for now.

If you plan to stay with leaves, a rear shackle makes more sense to me from a ride quality point of view.

Just a point of interest. When Toyota configures a vehicle to be sprung over from the factory, they put the shackle on the rear. When sprung under, the shackle is on the front.

I have a shackle inversion problem that I could solve by doing the conversion.

I said B..... but in reality I'd like a 3" with shackle reversal up front. That is what I would do.

What size tires you want to run? Many in the past have run a spring over with 35s with no problems.

The Dakar springs are good. Don't go with the Cool Cruisers Hell For Stout springs if you were looking at them, a guy I know has them on his 40 and they are so stiff he gets almost no articulation.

I like the coil setup from the 80. If I was to get into another 60 I would look into that route.

No need to reinvent the wheel on that rig....keep it stock, with OME springs/shackles.

I said b. To me is seems to make more sense on a expedition vehicle to do shackle reversal. Probably wouldn't do it if I wasn't doing the work myself. I am opting to do coils in the front.

I had the HFS on my 60 and if anything I would say they were way to soft. But for whatever reason I would stick with OME.

Wow, the other end of the spectrum. Sounds like a quality issue to me then. I would also stick with Old Man Emu.
