Hello everyone,
My name is Sergio and I write from Chile, took time visiting expeditionportal and find really amazing, very complete, through this portal and its photographs I have learned different parts of the world.
I could not stop writing in this Thread, since April this year I am a happy owner of a samurai with whom I have come to visit different places in my country. I have only praise for this small 4x4, which has given me great satisfaction.
By February of 2010 I am preparing an expedition with my girlfriend to Patagonia Chile - Argentina, will be around 5000 kilometers in 3 weeks.
All trips I've been doing and that I am narrating to perform through my blog, which are cordially invited to visit.

Greetings to all!

Great looking Samurais on your site there. I really like the racks that you built! Those look like 1998 - 2001 Samurai's, right? I always like the slightly refreshed front end.
Thats a very ambitious trip you are planning. Keep us posted.

Samurai Spanish 1.9 TD Diesel (1999 to 2003).

I've always wondered about the Suzuki 1.9 TD. Do you happen to know the specifications on that? Does it use the same motor mounts as the 1.3? Does it use the same 5-Speed transmission?

To meet the diesel car market, especially in Europe, Santana made a deal with French auto makers to equip their propeller models of origin samurai PSA (Peugeot-Renault), resulting in the emergence in 1999 of the Suzuki Samurai 1.9 TD liters XUD Peugeot engine series, equipped with diesel injection pump and turbocharger KKK brand that delivers an output of 62hp and torque to 4.300rpm torque 11.8kg / m. The consumptions are quite content, so are the accelerations, which is one of the most popular versions of Samurai engine oil, since in 1995 Suzuki had created a version for Japan only oil with a Mazda home motor.

For the rest of the vehicle, this shows some improvement. as borrowed from outside the Japanese versions of plastic bumpers and a new mask similar to the Japanese, with parking and cornering lights included, but a bit more square and the smaller headlamps. Unlike the Asian model, this keeps the spring packs on four wheels, but shows an interior with new dashboard design, lead-colored, much more colorful and comfortable than previous versions and available in both short wheelbase versions as in LWB pickup.

Because the countries of Europe anti-pollution legislation about to get increasingly serious and strict, Suzuki decided to replace the 2001 version with a new configuration TD atmospheric origin and thereby raise Renault meet Euro III standards, 1.870cc this time, direct fuel injection and producing 64hp at 4500 turns, but with improved torque 12.3 kgm around. It maintains the style of the vehicle without major changes.

Suzuki Samurai Santana 1.9 diesel .-

Motor Renault F18 1.870cc
Direct injection.
Bore / Stroke: 80 x 93mm.
Power: 64HP@4.500rpm.
Torque: 12.3Kgm.2250rpm.

Its got a chevy badge on it, but its suzuki and soon to be toyota underneath. Really building it as more of a go fast rock crawler, but can't wait to take it on some long expedition trips as well.

Yes, I was right, looks much better without the funky graphics ... It did great on it's first off-pavement outing in the snow.

That looks familiar! :D mine with the 30" tires and a locker in the back was simply amazing in the snow. I could go places rigs with dual lockers and much bigger tires could go.

I will post a pic of my LWB samurai this weekend and its finished and I am driving it now.

I don't own it anymore but it had a lockrite in the back. I sold it when we bought our XL& and bought a LWB samurai as a play toy and now it will be my short expedition vehicle with my son. Longer trips will be in our F150.

Yes, the older Sidekicks are nice little rigs.

Chet, how did the lockrite effect your street driving? I remember the detriot locker in my early bronco made it a handful. Debating if I what to spend the extra for a ARB airlocker.

New to the site, glad to see people are actually adventuring with their zuks. Im an East cost wheeler. In the middle of a build currently. Below are two pics, the first from what it looked like when i got the lil sami, the second what it looked like before the tear down. Currently upgrading to a 22r engine, yota axles, stretching frame and body 12in along with a front axle stretch forward of 6in, isuzu power steering, YJ leafs, missing links front, locked rear, and 35-37in tires. When the build is done I look to try to find a couple places on the east coast to complete at least a 3 day excursion. (If anyone knows of such places please let me know)

my build can be followed on my hometown clubs website The way of the samurai
