How about i just list some details on the truck, including "the bad" and then we see if you have anything for me? (Details will be at end of post.)

WARNING: I LIKE PICTURES

So on Thursday, i woke up at 2:30am to get to the airport.

Landed in Sacramento at 9:15am PST to get the truck. Left Sacramento at about noonish.

First looks at the truck.

Didn't take long for things to get a little ugly.

A little uglier.

Then Chain Check at Donner Pass. After assuring the DOT worker that Yes, i PROMISE this is 4 wheel drive, i was waved through.

Donner Pass before it got really ugly. This was the first of about 4 storms i drove through.

I like snow. And mountains.

Gotta get a cockpit pic of all the vehicles at some point. All the lights appear to work, save for one of the green leds for rear wheels.

As i was leaving the salt flats, noticed a trail that went up and over some mountains/hills off to the side. What better time to do some trails than in an untested truck, with no tools or recovery gear, solo, and on the other side of the country away from home?

Getting to this point was actually really steep and there was snow on the ground. Hard to even walk up there, but the Montero impressed me.

Here we go again.
2016-01-19_09-45-19 by concealer404, on Flickr

It was cold in Iowa. -30F windchill + 80mph running + overcooling truck = terrible gas mileage, and cold inside the truck as it couldn't generate enough heat to create well... heat.

Running my first errand home. The feelings of superiority are real. (I kid. I have a soft sport for Sports.)

Nice montero, same color as mine(which I also found in Sacramento). What size are those tires? Love the periscope. :sombrero: Looks like in addition to the rear passenger side wheel light not illuminating looks like the rear locker light is on?

Mishaps on the trip:

Surprisingly little. Got stranded/lucky at a rest area just west of North Platte, Nebraska. Was pulling over for a potty break and maybe a 30 minute nap anyways. Parked, and noticed a huge cloud of smoke and burning oil smell coming from the hood. Shut the truck off, checked the oil level, dipstick was dry. Oil all over the engine bay, and had sprayed heavily enough to be dripping from my rear bumper. It was dark and cold, so i figured i'd wait it out til morning when i could see. That wasn't too fun either. 6 hours in the truck rubbing my feet together to try to fend off frostbite. (I was successful, so that's good.)

In the morning, i tried to figure out what my plan of attack would be. My friend from home said he'd be willing to come out and get me and tow me home. (At this point, i figured the motor was dead.) I decided i would start dumping my spare oil in in hopes i could see it come up on the fill line first. After 1.5qts, it was showing full, so the good news is that i only lost 1.5qts. The bad news is i didn't know in how many miles. The maximum was 94.2 miles. (last time i checked and still was slightly overfull.) Started the truck, sounded fine. Went back to the engine bay, and oil is POURING out of the filter. It was merely loose. o_O

Couldn't get it as tight as i wanted, turns out it had the wrong oil filter on it, so that wasn't something i was super happy about. Limped it 18 miles into town and paid Firestone $30 to change the oil. Rest of the trip went ok besides overcooling in really cold weather. Need to do something about that, it's killing gas mileage and making the heat crappy.

Averaged 16.2mpg for the entire trip, including at least 3 fill ups of awful gas mileage due to overcooling issue. Truck is also throwing a CEL that i'm guessing is making it run rich.

The Details
1998 Montero Winter Package with 166k miles
4Crawler body lift
Snorkel of some sort
Roof basket of some sort (not super impressed with it, may swap out for something rain rail mounted later)
15xSomething aftermarket wheels of some kind wrapped in 33x12.5s

The Good
No rust
Good trans
Locker works
Drives fairly well
Motor seems healthy
Recent timing service (and about $3k in receipts in the last 12 months)

The Bad
Interior is trashed and gross.
Exhaust leak
CEL is on, and OBD port appears to be dead
Overcools

The Plan
4.90s
35s
General clean up
Rebuild suspension and steering, possibly adding OME lift in the process
Lighting
armor/sliders/custom bumpers
RTT

Drive it to the Arctic Circle

STUFF I NEED
Door panels. Definitely driver's side front, wouldn't mind passenger front, too.
Passenger rear door inside handle
Driver's rear door outside handle
Rear hatch outside hande
Passenger rear window motor/regulator/switch (Not sure which is broken, but the window doesn't work)
Driver's rear window motor/regulator (Not sure which is broken, switch works, window doesn't move)
Center console
Earlier SR t-case shifter
Passenger front turn signal
Front seats (Mine are trashed. Thinking i might want a cloth set to retrofit heaters into. I don't like leather.)
Steering wheel
Carpet set if someone happens to have it already out. Mine MIGHT be salvageable, but they're pretty gross.

What i don't NEED, but WANT
SWB round headlight conversion
Bouncy seats
4.90 gears
Non-airbag dash

Yeah there's a few mechanical/electric gremlins. The rear locker light flashes constantly, sensor is probably bad. Locker works as it should. The light actually fixed itself for about 400 miles in Iowa, but it's acting up again. That and the CEL would be super nice to take care of. :)

Tires are 33x12.5

out of all the things you need i dont have any,

If you are interested i can check at local yards if anything is available. The truck i was picking from was 98 winter package had beige interior, full set of floor mats(sitting outside the truck), no lights, inside was clean and steering wheel was good. it was at woody's (614) 276-2597

Window regulator are not expensive and better to buy new, it's common problem.
Center console what part, front or rear with storage?

No worries, i actually have a line in on a truck that seems to have everything i need, and is even the same color. In fact.... i'm considering making an offer on the whole thing and then potentially moving parts from THIS one to the "parts truck" and rolling that instead, since it's that much nicer. But if not, it has everything i think.

I'll look for some new regulators, thanks for the tip. :)

Center console... really the whole thing. Most of the interior on this thing is pretty bad. The dash is saveable, mostly just needs a good cleaning. Shifter/storage console is super scuffed up, loose, has sheet metal screw in it, and is just generally jank. If i can get the entire interior out of the parts truck, and i mean the ENTIRE interior, i'll get it, and throw the entire interior from this one in the trash. Dash and all. (Want to take it out anyways, ducting is suspect.)

Do you know if they have any Gen 2s at Woody's? Looks like Pick-n-pull just has a 99.

Thanks for making me look at these seriously Swank, just picked up a 95 for $400. The interior is in fantastic shape (tan cloth) but it swiped something on the passenger side so a new fender and doors would make it look much better.

Yes, also into Miatas. I know your car. ;) And have seen your photo work. :)

Nice! The only Monties i'm seeing in a junk right now are a 98 dead ringer for mine (stay away! interior is mine!) and a Gen3 Limited.

What is your plan for the OBD port? I've never had to deal with that. New ECU maybe?

OBD Port seems to be working as of last night. I think they were using defective equipment. Or operator.

Throwing a code for cat, and coolant temp sensor never reading "ready" to enter closed loop. Checked overflow tank, noticed two things: 1) It was empty, and 2) it was SUPER GROSS. Going to flush the coolant this week and keep an eye on it, clear the codes, see if that one comes back or not. Still trying to decide if i want to put any effort into cleaning up/maintaining this engine, or just letting it go and put together a 6g75 or 4m40 swap.

You can have the interior. I just need some doors and fender. I'll probably just pull it out and not worry about it but if I can find some decent parts in a junkyard I will swap them out.

Oh the only one i'm talking about right now is the dead ringer for my truck in an Indiana yard. If i can't get literally every piece i need out of this truck, i'll probably take none of it and hold out for a base model cloth/non airbag dash setup, preferably in any color but tan. You know me and interior swaps. ;)
